Question

Has anyone had issues with their mail this week? As in. the mailman stopped coming? We haven’t gotten any mail but have also had mail waiting for pickup for 3 days. It’s just poking out of the mailbox waiting to be picked up. But no mailman. :(

Yes, but it's only when we don't have our regular mailman. Every once in a while we get this mail woman in the neighborhood. We don't get mail when she delivers. Which was 2 days last week, and 1 day this week.

@buran happens the same way in our area as well. We are lucky that our regular guy rings our doorbell when we have a package, he’s the best.

Not this week, but we had issues a few weeks back when our regular mail lady was out sick for a bit.

Wait, the mailman will take outgoing mail? How did I not know this? No issues with mail at Jeannette and oakwood

@sauna hmmm. I’m one block south of you do we have the same mailman.

@sauna the little flag on mailboxes is to indicate you have outgoing mail to be picked up.

@sauna well, they are supposed to. Ours often get missed in our wall mounted box so we usually drop it in a blue box just to make sure it goes out that day.

@byington that's the way it worked where I grew up and when I moved here I was totaly shocked that it wasnt a thing here (in chicago) . Ive never seen a flag up here and we dont have one on our mailbox. Maybe I need an upgrade

@sauna we don’t have a flag either I just leave the mail poking out.

@sauna At my last house we had a mailbox with a flag. I‘d lift the flag up and the mailman always took my mail and some packages. Now at my new place, my mailbox does not have a flag. It’s one of those that’s attached to the side of the house. I tried leaving some out going mail the other day and the mailman didn’t take it .

It’s sporadic. different mail carriers over the last three weeks on my block

Maybe you have a replacement? When our mailman is on vacation, the sub often neglects to pick up outgoing mail.

@bitternut Vaughan I think she may actually have our mail person! But I agree when Our regular person isn’t doing it, I see the subs skip our house a lot- especially on Saturdays.

Monday she didn't come (I get my work via mail every Monday) but she did bring it Tuesday. It had a sticker from LAX on it so the USPS had sent it the wrong way first (it was coming from CO). Same thing happened 2 weeks ago, but it didn't come til Thursday.
