Here are the 10+ campaign budget optimization ideas that you can use if you want more results for a lower cost all while saving more time in the process. First you should set up campaign budget optimization (CBO). 1. ) Campaign Budget Optimization (CBO) Setup ‍ To set up campaign budget optimization during campaign creation. Turn on the campaign budget optimization toggle. Choose if you want your campaign budget to be Daily or Lifetime. Set a budget. Choose a campaign bid strategy. 2. ) CBO: Breakout Structure To achieve 4x, 7x, and 10x ROAS your campaigns have to be structure and organized for results and scale. This CBO ad account campaign breakout structure is what is allowing our clients to generate high ROIs and scale to thousands in daily ad spend. You start by breaking your campaigns out into 4 main buckets. Interests Testing Lookalikes Testing Retargeting Proven When you are testing ad sets group them by their category. ‍ 3. ) CBO: Interests Testing Structure ‍ For example, when you are testing interest audiences put all of the interest audiences in a campaign titled "CBO: Interest Testing". This will keep your interest audiences together and you'll be able to measure the performance specifically for when you want to know how interest audiences perform against lookalike audiences. 4. ) CBO: Lookalike Testing Structure Same thing here when you are testing lookalikes group them by their category into a testing campaign. This will also ensure you keep ad sets that are still in the learning phase separate from the proven audience ad sets you have. ‍ 5. ) CBO: Retargeting Structure Then for your retargeting audiences group them all into a CBO campaign. This always allows the budget to be distributed to the best performing retargeting ad set audiences. 6. ) CBO: Proven Campaign Structure Finally, move all of your winning ad sets and ads into a CBO campaign. This will make sure the budget is not taken away by ad sets that are in testing and so you can scale the CBO proven campaign without any issues. Then anytime you find a winner in your testing campaign move it over into the proven campaign. You'd be surprised how effective this can be just by organizing your CBO structure. ‍ 7. ) CBO: Simplex Method ‍ The method consists of sourcing your best ad creatives and high performing audiences and then placing them all together in a CBO campaign it's that simple. Have at least 3-5 ad sets that are high performers Have at least 2-3 ad creatives that are high performers Have at least 1 ad set audience that is completely open Have at least 2 lookalikes based on PageViews and Leads Stack social proof on your best-performing ad creatives 8. ) CBO: Retargeting Strategy ‍ The retargeting strategy consists of sourcing your best ad creatives and high performing audiences and then placing them all together in a CBO campaign it's that simple. Create 1-3 custom audience ad sets with 30d, 60d, and 180d Have at least 1-2 ad creatives that are high performers in each ad set Set campaign budget to $2/daily if audience size is less than 2, 000 people Set campaign budget to $10/daily if audience size is equal or less than 10, 000 people The reason you set the budget so low is that you'll eventually reach your entire audience in a matter of days. Which is going to allow you to get the low hanging fruit without overpaying. You'd be surprised how effective the pixel is in optimizing your retargeting at such a low budget. ‍ 9. ) CBO: 10X Scaling Strategy Campaign budget optimization (CBO) 10x scaling works best when you have an ad set and ad combination that is getting at least a 3x-5x ROAS or more. If the ad set and ad combination is getting a 3x-5x ROAS or more and you're really wanting to scale spend to increase results. Then duplicate the ad set and ad combination into its own CBO campaign 10 times. The minimum daily spend should be at least $50/daily. Make sure to turn off underperforming ad sets within that CBO campaign after launch. This will allow you to rapidly scale results extracting as much as you can from that one audience until it is fully exhausted. When you do this you'll want to monitor results a few days in because this scaling method is not super consistent but it works extremely well when you want to quickly get your ad spend up and your results. We used this scaling method with a client and took their spend from $150/daily to $5, 000/daily ad spend over the course of 45 days which sped up the process drastically in growing their sales. 10. ) CBO: Proven System Now, what do you do if you haven't found your best performing ad sets, audiences, bid strategy, and ad creatives or if you don't have a proven system? Well, like I said before the CBO strategies listed above are still very powerful and can generate great results. But if you want to make all the difference and gain that competitive edge like everyone else here that uses a proven system to find the best of the best campaigns, ad sets, and ads that are successful.

Chase, what is your perspective on keeping audience sizes within each of the ad sets housed within a single campaign pretty similar in size?
by (1.8k points)
It depends because if they vary in size then the CBO is going to shift the budget to the audience that can handle the spend and handle the results which is good. But if you want more spend to go to a specific audience or you're wanting to level the playing field for analyzing your data then you can keep the audience sizes consistent to one another to do so.
