Let's play a game called eCom Agency Growth. Let's say you're doing $50k per month with 10 steady eCom clients. What does your team look like to a) knock it out of the park and b) set things up so you're in position to knock it out of the park for the next 10 clients?

You play those games daily. I don’t think members of this group can run the agency for for you:).

One “buyer” can realistically handle all things platform related for 10 clients, especially at that spend level. Your bottleneck will be relation and strategy (account management, business, creative, etc. ) in order to have a chance of growing and keeping these clients. A. A super lean team with just a buyer and a designer could work. Ideally to maximize efficiency you add someone that handles all communication with clients. B. You add either another “buyer” or designer with someone that communicates with clients. I think the designer and media buyer role is relatively interchangeable depending on the needs of your clients, but at 5k a month it should be pretty light weight. Ideally, I think the optional strategy is to have one person lead the team that has all skills including FB ads, creatives, and client management, and have them manage a team of lower tiered employees. In theory it sounds good but that position is extremely difficult to hire for.

@deodar Thanks, love this answer Curious: What type of design skillset would you be looking for to fill the design role?

A. Your clients are paying you for right now. If you lose those 5 clients through offering a potential worse service, there’s no way you get near option B

@appel Losing 5 clients isn't an option.

@forgat10 But the reality is, if you go with option B and you're focusing on growing your clients base in stead of being set up for knocking it out of the park, you will lose clients quicker than winning them. THis is me speaking from experience when I had my agency. We built an amazing team (option A) and built a world class team. Took the option to go with option B to scale up the business and ended up losing clients.
