We charge a fee of 5% per transaction, with a minimum fee of $0. 40 ("Selling Fee"). FB is going to make a killing with this

If they start enforcing legitimate businesses -- where you supply business license, utility, picture ID to verify businesses, I am all for it. I can see that happening as they are already doing that for some.

@rachael7070 umm in my state you don’t need business license for an online store lol

It depends if people use it. Facebook really burned their privacy credibility. Personally I would never want to buy from Facebook. Which is ironic since I buy Facebook ads.

@ferrand2515 people will definitely use it

@ferrand2515 well in this case your actually buying facebooks own product, rather than from a scammy dropshipper just starting out

It’ll be a strong channel. It certainly won’t replace a store, wth it’s blog, SEO, opportunity to build a list, plugins etc, but it’ll be a great channel not to be ignored.

Think the same here lol . Just because a rich company does it, it does not mean it will be better.

If it gets customers what they want at a quicker speed than a website, then they’ll quickly forget about any privacy breaches committed previously by Facebook.

This. It's still an IF they make the experience better for people. but Facebook has the potential to do that. It's like people saying Amazon would never take off. well. they made shopping way better so they won.

It was very vague as to what the benefit was. I am unsure how much people will actually want to use something like this

But can I run ads to it

Evolution rather than revolution, a lot of this was already in place. A clear objective is to monetise brands that don't advertise but have strong organic presence on fb/insta. If you can't charge them for ads charge them for sales.

Its going to have major traction. Look at Craigslist. For 25 years, people used it to religiously. Then when marketplace came, CL was pretty much decimated. When people look for used cars, they use FB marketplace over CL. Same thing is gonna happen, FB just makes it easy and in one place.
