It might be a newbie question but my budget is being burned out faster and fewer conversions since employing someone who's gone manual CPC than when Google were set for Maximise conversions. Is it worth the time, increased budget and effort for manual CPC rather than just having the ads run on maximise conversions, especially when it was converting well before?

Too many variables here. Maybe they are over bidding, changed ad schedule, bid adjustments, etc.

As @quasijudicial34 mentioned, are you sure the only actual change is bidding strategy?

Because Google's automated bidding sucks  No reason not to stick with Manual if you're set up well

@whidah what's wrong with Google's bidding? Why is it bad?

@belabor People tend to get worse results, like you've experienced here. No reason to let google start messing with your bids if what you're doing is working.

@whidah It's the other way around - I was getting better results with Google! :)

Woah crazy! I'm curious what that account structure looks like. I've never seen the automation out-perform a well structured manual bidding setup.

Some work better with different bid strategies, that's why you a/b test with experiments. Max conversions, target CPA, Target ROAS, Max clicks, manual. Yeah I run manual 2/3rds of the time, but 1/3rd of the time automated works better and sometimes much better. Test, test, test
