Hi, does anyone have experience generating leads for HVAC companies using PPC? I have two HVAC clients but I'm struggling to get results. Not my strongest area of expertise. Thanks!

The industry can be tricky. Most people target the typical keywords but they are always the most expensive. Best thing you can do is your keyword research for cheaper keywords. Gives you better results, lower cpc and lower cpa. Make sure you have conversion tracking for all actions someone takes. Calls are 60% of leads so if you don’t have call tracking you definitely won’t know if your ads are performing. Group your campaigns by service since your budget is controlled at campaign level you can change budget depending on season. The more specific you go the better off you’ll be. Also if they aren’t on it make sure they get on google local service ads. different from AdWords but really big in hvac industry.

Our strongest market is HVAC. We have our campaigns broken into services, i. e. Service, Install (+remarketing), Commercial and Emergency/After Hours. We also split campaigns by call only sometimes (market by market basis).

Split HVAC keywords into their own ad groups, as you will lose QS and IS if you leave HVAC in the same group with ac repair, ac maintenance, etc.

You also want to check Analytics to see which terms the organic traffic is coming in on. Example: ac buzzing was not a keyword we were bidding on, but it was the top search term organically.

Yes, my HVAC client has around 25% conversion rate every month. Split your services into campaigns and go very specific with keywords. I use some long tail keywords that Keyword Planner says don't have any volume but they bring impressions and conversions anyway. Also, make sure you have a landing page for each of your service with an easily accessible contact form and phone number.
