I just landed a client that currently has a different marketing agency running his ads through google. The problem is that agency signed with his competitor and is doing their ads as well. He runs his site off of shopify and has a decent amount of backlinks and most of his traffic (according to Spyfu and Semrush) is coming from organic traffic. - 88% of traffic actually. We're wanting to move his site away from shopify and move it towards clickfunnels. If we do this, will he lose all his backlinks? We don't want to make a vital mistake that will take away all his organic traffic. \

Backlinks still stay as long as you’re using the same URL.

Okay very cool, thanks for responding so quick

No. They stay if their pointing to the main URL. What about the other pages? OMG bro. We don't use click funnels for entire websites! Click funnels is just a layer of pages that specifically move a customer from awareness to buy now within the same funnel at the shortest time possible. In-short: click funnels is a landing page with a few more pages to convert a new targeted customer.

I've never used Click Funnels, but heard a lot about it, so not sure how flexible it is in terms of setting up the site structure and URL's. The big thing is where his backlinks are linking to. Are the majority of his backlinks going to his homepage or inner pages? If its the inner pages then you either need to build the new Click Funnels pages to be on the same URL's or if you can't do that make sure you 301 redirect the old ones to the new pages. Bare in mind, if you change his/her content on page drastically too across his whole site he might lose (or gain) rankings.

That all makes sense, I appreciate it. Thank you for also pointing out us changing the content it affecting it. Almost all of his sales are sold over the phone. It's such a high ticket product no one buys really on his site. Clickfunnels is awesome for building landing pages! Its given us great success in other markets! Recommend it!

@mythos No worries mate, but yeah if 88% of his current traffic is organic right now I'd make sure you take your time getting all this setup. Last thing you want is to make huge changes (which this more than likely will be), his site drops because something gets overlooked, and over night he loses his rankings. Double check the content, make an excel with all the 301 redirects in advance if that's the route you have to take. And maybe look to see where the 88% of traffic is coming in from. is it just one page or a small handful that drive most of the traffic, if so make sure you get those spot on perfect and if anything, build on those pages in terms of content/value.

If you’re gonna use CF, use a sub domain to recreate their value ladder and run traffic separately to it (offer. whosawhatsit. com). I wouldn’t touch anything SEO optimized that converts organic.

Why would you move an ecomm site from Shopify to click funnels?
by (520 points)
@andra he’s sold 0 off his e-commerce site. They go there and see his number and call.
by (3.4k points)
@mythos Wonder why he has sold zero?
by (520 points)
They’re $6500 machines. People seem to want to talk on the phone for 30-45 minutes before they buy. But he’s also not getting as many calls as he’d like. Plan for CF was to get more calls booked but have a better sales letter to answer objections so the phone call doesn’t have to be as long
by (3.4k points)
@mythos sounds like he needs you! Good job.

@andra move to Wordpress and run call only ads?
by (3.4k points)
@process69881 I’m not a big call only fan.
by (4.3k points)
@andra depends on the vertical. I’ve had big success with Some and total flops with the other. This situation seems worth a try

@mythos you might want to try some type of offer with him and a lead qualification process. Not sure of the niche, but something like “take this survey and see if you qualify for $500 off (machine). Offer expires in 48hrs (with the countdown timer). Click the link below to schedule a call” (have a link to a calendar like Calendly where people can book their own calls with him/claim the offer. You’ll probably see higher volume with this type of strategy

@chazan That’s very very helpful nathan! Love the survey idea!

Click funnels is for selling one off items. You can't move all of his products to click funnels. Click funnels is just another name for 'creating one product website' and yes, you'll lose the backlinks! How about this, connect click funnels to the website and run traffic to it aiming the products that could do well with a piped selling system. Do not touch any SEO that brings traffic to the website!

“If it is not broken don’t fix it. ” I suggest you to prioritize not to jeopardize the organic traffic. Organic traffic and good rankings are not build overnight. Do not change URL. Keep up the things that get you good organic traffic either if it is content, back links whatever it is maintain it. CF is good for landing pages. Use it to improve or leverage what you already have performing well. I hope it helps.
