Your competition is bidding higher on the same keywords. Has nothing to do with Google.
by (1.4k points)
@species yes but I guess you didn’t get my main point. Let say google tell these companies: look instead of 1$ avarage cpc for that kw, we will drop to 0. 30 cents. Now you all can bid on 0. 31c and upping. This is what I meant
by (3.3k points)
@rubel and it will go back to a dollar again. You are not understanding. The more competition the higher the bid. Google can say bid starts at 10 cents. But company A wants to bid 1$. Who cares what Google says.

@species will go back and they have the power to lower again to control higher prices on cpcs. Not forgetting that many business closing the doors right now, the campaigns are being turned off. I’m also considering that some also increased their spending.
by (3.3k points)
@rubel exactly. A lot of business increased their spent. So it's costing you more.
by (1.4k points)
@species the business I’m talking about is on the first option. It’s a moving company I don’t get why the cpcs are increasing with quality score of 9 and 10. Many of them are shooting down their campaigns. January to February and beginning of March, it was spending 50% less on the same keywords. From what I know, these companies are not increasing the bids and budgets during the current situation

A bunch of people in my industry (real estate) have seen an increase in cost of PPC due to a lot more clicks on the Google Partner Network. Check out if you have that target enabled and how much traffic you have been getting there. If there is a lot, then I’d recommend removing that from your targeting. We see a lower conversion % from that traffic source and an increase in clicks there could result in doubling your cost.

@icy201 no search or display partner enable on that specific campaign, and It’s a moving company. Not many people wanting to move by these times.
by (230 points)
Well that makes sense with the current situation.
by (1.4k points)
@icy201 What makes sense? Higher cpc because of low competition?
by (230 points)
@rubel what we have seen is higher cost per conversion because of more junk clicks being served if people have those settings in place.

@icy201 makes sense.

Very possible ad prices for certain keywords would be much higher now as people are in survival mode, need business and are willing to bid up for keywords they know work for them!

Tough times. You gotta be more competitive.

I’m seeing near record lows for both cost per click and cost per conversion. Our clients are having very good conversations with the leads as well. Taking advantage of competition pausing it seems.

With us, competitors are declining. From $20-$30 CPA now at $5-$10.
