This used to be a strategy group. Now it seems like all the posts are 101 level noobie questions. Is this a noobie group for people who don’t know shit or is it a strategy group? I haven’t seen a question that has been asked in quite some time that was from someone who had even intermediate experience with Google Ads.
This used to be a strategy group.

Spoonfeed me all your wisdom so I can maximise dollars for my client and make me look good in 5 minutes. Yeah, good luck with that.

@be9 exactly. It’s preposterous. You need to study and work hard. I miss strategy questions vets asking if anyone knows hot to fall support or how many keywords per ad group. “Hey take all your years of knowledge and hand it to me”

@seeker if I can't be bothered to test then I don't ask. Really obvious that people can't be bothered to try what we have all gone through and just want cheap shot answers

@be9 yup and the fact that people defend them in here let’s you know that Those defending know fuck all and want to see answers too.

@seeker I've worked with Google ads since 2005, I passed their practitioner test once and went back to the real world

@seeker dear Google Ads please fix it for me to pay out so I may maximise my client billing though I've no clue as to what I'm doing in all reality

@be9 I’ve been a partner since 13. Manage about $3, 500, 000 myself each year. I look for groups to maybe get some advanced strategy. Seeing people who don’t even know how to set up an ad group in a “strategy” group is lunacy.

You’re typically a positive guy man what’s up

I kind of get fed up with it too. Especially the questions that a 2 second Google search will answer.

@kehoe48 exactly. There are too many people asking Google Ads 101 questions. What I say to my employees is: if you ask me a question and I find the answer on page 1 of Google. I am going to stand at your desk and talk to you like a 2 year old for 30 minutes and completely waste your time because you just wasted mine.

@seeker that's very mature of you as an employer.

@responsive absolutely when you only hire senior developers and don’t hire Junior developers. The problem is how many people lie about qualifications and get caught.

Wow your fun

@poyssick no. Adults who ask people the answer to a question that is on the first page of Google and the question is about Google? Obviously they have an IQ lower than their shoe size.

Just waiting for the complaints in the group that us G Ad veterans aren't handing it out on a spoon and paying for the privilege to the ones who can't be arsed to test and find out what works and what doesn't

Maybe entry to the group should be more strict? I requested to follow but then closed out when I saw that I had to answer a bunch of questions. Yet somehow, here I am! Anyway, I’m not going to lie, I enjoy reading the posts but I’m also looking for a more 101 group where my questions would be more appropriate (I haven’t posted here at all btw). If anyone has suggestions, feel free to share!

Post whatever you want. Someone will answer.

@brag432 you rock for being honest. Most would rather lie and fake it (and waste clients money) until they make it.

That happens when a group like this isn't moderated actively. Do you want to do that job? I wouldn't want to do it, was involved in similar tasks and it's an absolute pain.
by (920 points)
@rosebud I moderate a shitload of groups. Too many are asking people in here to hand over what took years to gain for free. We need a level playing field.

@seeker I see it as a privilege having been able to do AdWords/Google Ads since 2004 and having learned and honed the craft on hundreds of campaigns and millions of ad spend. So, I'm open to share what I learned with others who are willing to learn to and ask questions. Even if that are beginner questions. Often the most basic and most simple questions are the toughest ones to answer. I also learned that by answering such questions I finetune my understanding of the topic and can bring to paper what was before only a vague brainfog. What then helps me serving my paid clients better. And no, I don't like to be asked questions which a fast Google search would answer well. But lots of questions aren't answered well by Google - in the context of Google Ads.
by (920 points)
@rosebud correct but in the last week the lions share of questions are answered in the featured snippet at the very top of the page under the query.
by (11k points)
@seeker Difficult to draw a line between stupid and useful questions imo.
by (920 points)
@rosebud I literally took a question and inserted it in google and the featured snippet was the steps listed out to answer the question and I screen shot it and posted it as the answer and it started an argument
by (11k points)
@seeker Never feed the trolls. On the other side: nothing against a nice little flame war:-) Why not just ignore the lazy ones? Then they stop asking stupid questions.
by (920 points)
@rosebud I just get excited seeing posts from the group and then I read them and and shake my head. A lot are “I just set up my first campaign ever and have not got any impressions yet. Should add keywords? ”

I skim read too. You’re right most questions asked are beginners level. If they were more advanced i’d pay more attention
