Question - I found 5 spiders in my fairly new house in the last week alone and I LITERALLY CANNOT with that. So I called pest control for an estimate. What do you ladies pay for pest control on average? Our home is ~4000 sq ft. Just want to get a general idea  Thanks in advance!

Call Men In Black. Our home is just shy of that square footage. I believe we pay $125 quarterly

This has helped in my basement I’ve only seen one so far this spring and we are down there all the time
by (1.7k points)
@territerrible is that safe for kids & dogs? Do you know  thanks for sharing!
by (2.8k points)
@bridget92 yes! That’s why I got it! I have cats too! Doesn’t bother them. It’s a frequency no chemicals
by (1.7k points)
@territerrible love it! I’ll buy one to supplement the pest control company just for downstairs. The last thing I need is having a spider crawl in my butt while I use our basement bathroom

@bridget92 hahahahaha I needed that

$79 3 times a year. Chemwise Pest Control
by (1.7k points)
@pugnacious Corbett oh wow that’s really low. what’s roughly your square footage if you don’t mind me asking?
by (270 points)
@bridget92 3300
by (270 points)
I’m on their tri-annual program
by (270 points)
They come back free of charge if we have any issues in between
by (6.6k points)
I've been using them for over 10 years. Very happy with them. I do the 3 times a year treatment program. Any problems you have they come out at no additional cost.
by (1.3k points)
We use Chemwise as well! Called Men in Black because I met one of the owners (great people! ) but it was double the cost and no issues with CW.
by (4.2k points)
We also use Tricare with Chemwise and they have been great.

Same program. I love them!

I don't think there is much that pest control can do about spiders.
by (1.7k points)
@lewellen please don’t say that lol they advertise for spiders too. Fingers crossed.
by (730 points)
@bridget92 hopefully they can help. That’s just what my terminix guy has said.

If you can hang in there 2 more weeks, the warmer weather will keep the spiders outside where they would much rather be. They only came inside bc the wacky spring weather got cold.

Also, spiders inside the house will control any house centipedes. Have you ever seen one of those? I'd much rather have the spider.
by (1.7k points)
@shaffer1155 ew! All of it - GROSS haha I can’t. Spiders are my biggest fear. Pest control will take care of anything else too. Only insects I’ve seen so far were spiders.
by (1.7k points)
@shaffer1155 omg I just googled the house centipede. I’m dead! It’s like a spider on crack.
by (8.2k points)
@bridget92 - and they are FAST suckers! At least spiders stay pretty much in place unless you disturb them. House centipedes are big and look like a pile of hair racing across your floor or up your wall.
by (1.7k points)
@shaffer1155 NOOOOOOOO!  Why do they exist?!  Please - no more “fun facts”. I can’t handle it lol

We use chemwise and LOVE LOVE them! We pay around $300 for the entire year. They come out as much as we need them for that.

You’d prefer chemicals over a couple of spiders that eat yucky bugs?

Chemwise tri-annual program. $79/treatment, 3 times a year. And if you find bugs in between, they come back and treat for free. We've been using them for 3 years, it's been a good experience and minimal spiders!
by (1.7k points)
@nicely wow ok! I keep hearing about that company. I’ll reach out for a quote. Thank you
by (2.5k points)
@bridget92 They really are good. And they try to be on the healthier end of the chemicals.
by (1.7k points)
@nicely just hired them. Will be here Thursday. But only exterior until the stay-at-home situation is lifted.
by (2.5k points)
@bridget92 Excellent! Yes they were at my house yesterday and did the same-- outside only for now.

@bridget92 another vote for chem wise!
by (1.7k points)
@periotic0 perfect! Much appreciated. Sounds like they’re knocking their competitors out of the park with both service AND pricing.

They are one of my biggest fears as well. But I have learned to accept them. They mainly hide in the corners (some I can't even reach, we have a raised ranch and high ceilings in the entrance). They really help with mosquitoes that try to sneak in. So unless they are the big fat black ones that run fast as hell and make me almost crap my pants, I leave them be, they definitely help with the other bugs.
by (1.7k points)
@crimson haha they are fat and black. about 1” diameter. Definitely run fast. And just love walking around close to me. I can’t accept them  They are too intrusive. I was hoping killing one would send a message to all its relatives but then 4 more appeared
by (1.4k points)
@bridget92 oh yep. no no! Those have to go! The ones I ha w accepted have tiny little bodies and thin legs but always mind their own business. Those black ones are a hard hell no! Hope pest control gets out soon!
by (1.7k points)
@crimson when I crushed one of them with a really long wood block it made a very crunchy sound
by (4.9k points)
@bridget92 I am also very afraid of spiders. I once came home from a trip and there were SEVERAL of those big/black/juicy looking spiders. After a very long panic attack and a lot of crying, I realized the only way I would be able to get to sleep is if the spiders were contained. I put a heavy water glass over each one. I left them like that until there was no movement. and swept them out the door. It really did provide peace of mind. I did finally get to sleep (with the light on)!

Go to domyown. com and buy Cy-kick it’s the same stuff Orkin uses. Spray the outside do your house twice a year. Done. Works a treat

Spiders eat other bugs! Besides, 5 in a week is hardly cause for panic. It’s just the time of year ‍♀️

Text Home Services 630-449-8679 for organic spraying. These giant companies are still using toxic chemicals including Orkin.
