I am looking to purchase a durable set of dinnerware. Any brands you love? I'm tired of having to replace ours every few years.

Fiesta ware 5 kids 7 years still in great shape!

@narcisanarcissism I love my Fiestaware. We have been using it for 15+ years and it is still going strong. After many drops, I had 1 plate broken because it was dropped onto something sharp. I love the colors and still like the looks of it. I highly recommend Fiesta!

We got tired of replacing our dishes every few years as well. We've been really happy with our Corelle, had for about 3 yrs, they are industructable. They've been dropped on the floor and on granite countertops and still have not broken.

Corelle is basically indestructible. I have had the Target Home plain white ceramic square bowls and plates since 2010 and they have held up great!

@mclaughlin3846 I agree that is what we have m. But just be ware putting them I. The dishwasher weakens them over time. Ours are 7 year old and have been dropped a ton with no issues. Until this year. We have broke three this year by my toddler dropping them.
by (8.9k points)
@chromatics really? Mine only go in the dishwasher. I hand wash nothing. It will be 10 years in December and still have a complete set of 12 each with no chips or cracks ‍♀️
by (870 points)
@mclaughlin3846 I googled it after the first one broke and it said dishwashers weaken them. I was like well great that’s all we use.

And when they break they shatter everywhere.

Noritake. Love, love, love! Bought for durability and also bc I don’t really care for round dinner plates (we have the square collection). Heavy-ish, but totally worth it.

If you buy Corelle from the store at the outlet, they’ll replace it for you for free if it breaks. Didn’t know that. I got most of mine at target

I love Fiesta ware! I mix/matched colors and it’s fun! Very durable. In 8 years I’ve lost 1 plate because my son dropped it in the garage. But no chips. And it’s lead free. And made in USA.

I had Pottery Barn for years and finally got rid of it after it chipped and it was so heavy. I got Mikasa bone china a few years ago and LOVE it. Very durable and lightweight. And a classic design.

Corelle is the best! They have a store at the Chicago Premium Outlet in Aurora. You’d have to wait until they reopened of course but they have sooooo many patterns/shapes. They take up so much less space than those big honkin’ ceramic ones and they are indestructible.

Ikea. The set was very inexpensive and has lasted for the last 5 years with two kids. Nothing has every broken either.

@phosphorate agreed I have had mine for YEARS and they still look new and we use them daily.

Yeah, I bought my Corelle from Kohl’s in 2007 when I finished undergrad. It’s still going strong! The everyday silverware could be replaced though.

I’m tossing my fiesta. Loved it but now it’s very scratched and worsening. I’m on the lookout for good, dishwasher/microwave safe dish ware. To be fair, we’ve owned them 5-7 years or so.

@fluviomarine I'm interested to know what Fiestaware you want to get rid of.

I got the cheapest set from Macys on sale. Set of 6, total 45 pieces (3 bonus serving pieces) for $40 + taxes. Have been using it everyday since 11 years. Not even a chip

Fiestaware for sure. You can mix the colors which are beautiful. I’ve used this brand for over 25 years and never broke one (and believe me I’ve dropped a couple for sure)

Noritake Colorwave has proven to be a go-to. I also have Crate and Barrel Wilder - it breaks so easily.

Stay away from Phaltzgraff. They used to be good but not any more. They scratch easily and chip.

Honestly, dollar tree is the answer. It's expensive otherwise to buy new place settings and this way is cheap enough to replace when you get tired of them. Order online.

Corelle! They are lightweight and don’t break easily. They also aren’t too hot to handle after use in the microwave. Tons of designs! There is a Corelle store at the Aurora Outlet Mall or you can shop online.

@stalkinghorse I second Corelle! Plus they stack so easily!

@abattoir True! I used to have 12 fiesta style plates and now I can fit twice as many plates!

I love Alipco it's porcelain made in France you can get it at William Sonoma.
by (1.3k points)
I second this if they're in price range (they're not cheap but made possible as wedding gifts for us). We've had them for 13 years and replaced 2 salad plates and 1 bowl, and I'm really clumsy. Plus, you can replace a piece here and there without much worry that the style will be gone.

We’ve had our classic white C & B set since our wedding almost 22 years ago. Over the years, a few pieces have been broken and we’ve always been able to replace them easily. I’d say we have over 95% of the original pieces. Highly recommend!
