Hello.  I made a cake to donate to Edwards Hospital for nurses and doctors and all people working there.Hello. I made a cake to donate to Edwards Hospital for nurses and doctors and all people working there. I called today to know where should I bring it, what entrance, etc. Nobody told me exactly where to take it. Do you guys know? Is there a donation entrance or something? I know a lot of people brought face masks and gloves. Where did you leave them? Thank you for your help  *Edit: I took it to the ER. I just came back. Everyone was so happy! They were also policemen and firefighters! Thank you all so much for your help

Theres loading dock, just west of the south parking garage. 9-3 . You'll see it. And its store bought, sealed foods I was told.

Another baker did something similar with cupcakes. I think she showed up at the ER doors and left it with the staff there and allowed them to distribute as they saw fit/

Very kind and thoughtful of you. I was told by a nurse at a different hospital that homemade food is not distributed. It is usually thrown out. Maybe door drops to neighbors or friends.

@sabulous good to hear! Saddens me to think hard work might end in the trash can. ;)

@quartering I was told everything had to be packaged and no homemade., although you raise a great point Bc even the restaurants that deliver to them had to make it?

I bring treats to the ER entrance but I'm sure they don't travel far!

Very sweet and thoughtful. Nurses won't eat home baked goods, especially now.

The cake is beautiful! I think you should take it to ER. The staff should at least see it, and I bet they'll devour it.

That is so beautiful. Feel free to PM me and I can put you in contact with the food donation coordinator there. you have to talk to them before delivering anything, and they have strict protocols right now due to COVID. There has to be someone you can get that cake too! Everything is scheduled.

That’s a beautiful cake! I agree nurses won’t eat homemade things right now, but since thats your business, pack it up in a box how you would to sell with your business card. Knowing it came from a professional baker makes it different than “home made”

@quartering how much would you charge for this? My brothers girlfriend is an emergency room nurse at Hinsdale and we’ve been sending her with cookies and chocolate covered pretzels (she said the staff have been enjoying them). I’d love to send this there!

@hammerless I’m sorry but I’m not taking any orders at this time. I would love to help you in the future:)

@quartering no worries! We made pretzels. I’d love to use you in the future but you’re far from us just wanted to do something for the hospital

They will take things if they come from somebody with a food service certification. That qualifies most professional bakers. Just make sure it’s obvious from the packaging

I also think it’s just store bought but I think you are a store technically - so maybe you can explain that

Maria, as a professional at home baker you should have proper boxing materials for it but if not hit me up. I have proper boxing, add your business card and it should suffice as a commercial product.
