Does anyone have any recommendations for carry-on luggage for work trips? I don’t know where to start or features to look for. Trips will be 2-3 weeks every month so definitely needs to be durable. Wouldn’t hurt if it was pretty  Also recommendations on necessities while traveling for work would be great! Thank you!

@coulometer those are pretty! Thank you!

I use them as main luggage because it’s so easy to spot. My husband borrowed them for one of his trips and (according to him) he got many admirers at the airport. :D

@coulometer what’s their durability like? How often have you used them and for how long?
by (3.3k points)
It feels like good quality to me. I do love the wheels and his easy it is to move. But truthfully I’ve only ever used it for 3 trips (6 times). Reviews are decent though, as is the price.

@coulometer it does have good reviews! Thank you for recommending them

(Oh btw I was referring to the check in version of the lily bloom luggage). I don’t have the carry on (I’m a backpack person).

@coulometer im usually a backpack only type of traveler, but I feel like I couldn’t bring everything I need in a backpack for a 3 week work trip

Which is why I’m struggling with luggage‍♀️

Away luggage. Totally worth the investment.

@squatter I’ve heard of that brand! What do you like about it?
by (6.1k points)
@gambia84340 - it’s durable but lightweight. Rolls wonderfully. Built in battery (removable) and the compression allows me to pack more. We have 4 carryons and 2 mediums. Plus a lifetime warranty!
by (1.5k points)
@squatter oh wow that sounds amazing! Thank you!

@gambia84340 , here’s $20 off. Double check that there isn’t an online code that would give you a better discount if you end up going this way.

They also have a 100 day trial period. You can return it if you don’t love it even if it’s used.

@squatter thank you for the code! 100 day trial and lifetime warranty sound great

I love my Victorinox carry-on. LOVE. It has compression, is so lightweight, the handle telescopes every couple inches so very comfortable height for anyone rolling, and it rolls so nicely. I also have a matching shoulder bag that slips over the handle. Also—you don’t want something pretty for a carryon if you’re flying. The gate agents notice anything not black or grey, and they’ll make you size it and generally harass you. I had an eggplant Samsonite that I loved, but had to give up because I got harassed at the gate so much with it.

@pantry that’s a very good point, I hadn’t thought of that. I will look into the Victorinox ones! Thank you. How long have you had it?
by (1.3k points)
3 years, I think. Flown over 100, 000 miles with it.

@pantry that’s perfect. Thank you so much!

Travelpro! Great quality and tons of flight staff use it so I never get questioned or measured for carry on size.
by (1.5k points)
@lau89 that’s a major plus! Thank you!
by (7.2k points)
@gambia84340 I’ve actually had gate staff say “oh Travelpro - go ahead” while measuring others on a full flight.

@lau89 wow that’s amazing. definitely going to look into travelpro

I traveled about that much the last few years. I used cheap luggage just cause it gets so beat up. I will say I got my packing down to a science. I had doubles of every makeup and any hair stuff. I never unpacked that stuff. I also always had phone/watch/earpod cords packed and never took them out. I wore pretty much the same black pants and shoes and rotated shirts/jackets. Basically I had a travel wardrobe that got washed and packed. I was finding my Sunday’s were wrecked cause I was worried about packing. I made it easy for myself.

@capet those are all very good ideas! I can’t imagine the time saved because of that

I do this as well--so much easier. I got some e-bags for packing, and just have a basic pack in my bag at all times of toiletries, then one for underthings, pajamas, workout outfit, and then a clothes bag with a pair of black ankle-length stretchy pants, a couple grey tops depending on weather, and a basic black or grey ponte dress. Then i throw in (or wear) a pair of jeans, a jacket with a pattern (packs better), Tom's sneakers, and a waterproof black bootie in winter or basic black pump in summer. then throw in something colorful to switch up based on weather. In the winter, I generally don't take a coat unless I really have to. I just layer up a long sweater and a heavy wrap--so much easier to deal with.

I also came to terms with a couple different "up" hairstyles that are easy to do without full-on hair styling :) I do a basic full bun, a pull-through pony at the nape of the neck, and a loosish french braid.

I just use a cute Vera Bradley bag. They are surprisingly durable. My daughter checked hers and it came out perfect.

Costco online has a good selection. I always pack my slippers (a little xtra comfort from home) and lint roller when I travel. I have a toiletry bad full of sample sizes so my normal stuff, always ready to go. I basically keep a second set of everything, but sample sized in there (small amount of pills, razor, mouthwash, deodorant, toothbrush and paste, soap, ponytails etc)
by (1.5k points)
@sullivan96 definitely going to keep a second set of everything. and the slippers are such a good idea! Thank you
