Looks to me like Mitchell owned him in a text exchange and then Grant went running to Twitter to whine about it!

If this is how our representatives behave no wonder our state is junk

@horehound I can see how you’d feel that way from his actions and those of so many prior legislators like him. I’d like to assure everyone that many of our General Assembly members don’t spend our days during this unprecedented crisis blame shifting, bullying, and cursing out the Governor’s team. We are instead choosing to constructively pitch in by working long days and weekends. We’re spending our time on things like: - calls with constituents hearing their concerns and connecting them with resources - calls with experts on topics ranging from how we maintain and increase access to food during the crisis to economic recovery measures - meeting in working groups to constructively problem solve while we await our ability to safely return to Springfield. Just wanted to provide some additional context of what happens at the state level.

@effable I was wondering do the representatives ever talk about the population decline, debt, and pension crisis? I've reached out to senators and representatives in the past and they always ignore it. Some media sources make it seem like they're taking the "hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil" approach and just ignore it when its brought up. Thank you for your response for my original comment, I'm surprised (in a good way) that a member of our states' congress has actually engaged with me

@horehound of course! I was on a call today where we were noting the most important bill we need to pay first for our budget is our debt service; so we don’t risk losing the progress we’ve made in the past yr increasing our bond rating, which impacts our ability to pay for everything else. Some members of the GA on both sides of the aisle still float and occasionally pass bipartisan collusion for bad decisions that punt the financial fiasco further into the future, but I’m hoping there aren’t 60 of us willing to do so before May 31, which is the statutory deadline for our budget.

@effable Thank you! Glad to know its not all incompetent people in the GA down in Springfield. Hopefully the GA can work on finding solutions by the end of May that are attainable because I have a feeling the pandemic will exacerbate the exodus of people and jobs that Illinois has been facing for several years now

The attached comment is that Wehrli took one phrase to gain political points. As Mitchell said, pick up a gun, man a post or support the ones who are. Has Wehrli said what he thinks can be done right now to fix the problem?
