We’ve realized with the stay at home that we don’t use Comcast cable to watch tv at all. how many of you have dropped cable and just rely on Netflix/Hulu/Disney+ etc? Do you miss it?

We did, don't miss it. We use youtube TV, Disney +, and bought an antenna for the local channels (WGN mostly). Antenna is also good for when the wifi is out and so we don't use too much wifi (that did happen).

I just did this yesterday! We stream everything. We have Disney+, Hulu, Netflicks, Prime Video and Apple TV. I switched from At&t to Xfinity as they give more internet power. They have a package with basic 10 channels and internet for $50 I added the “entertainment pack” which gives us a few channels we do watch so our bill will be around $100 once fees are added. If they wouldn’t have had that deal I would have just done the internet as we definitely use the streaming sites more then actual TV channels!

We had DirecTV for 10+ years and just switched to YouTube TV. It's $50 a month and has all the local channels. No complaints! We also use Disney+ and Netflix.

We have been planning to drop the cable completely and go to Netflix/Amazon/Disney+/Hulu, though we will add hulu with live TV to get some things. Honestly the hold up has just been my reluctance to give up one show that i won't be able to watch without cable and laziness to call and deal with Xfinity
by (1.5k points)
Ha, what show? My hold up used to be Big Brother, lmao
by (1.3k points)
RuPaul's Drag Race. VH1 is a jerk and isn't on Hulu live
by (2.4k points)
@assuming837 with an AppleTV, you might be able to subscribe to the show in iTunes and get it as it's released. I did that for Big Bang because CBS is also a turd and won't share with other streaming services.

We did this two years ago - so worth it! Important thing is awesome internet connection - we like Metronet if it’s available in your area. We use Hulu Plus + Live TV so we get our local channels as well as the other channels we love (ESPN, HGTV). Also use Netflix, Disney Plus, and occasionally Amazon Prime video.

I canceled it 9 years ago when I was pregnant with my 2nd and cutting costs to stay home. Never missed it or the bill. Every time we are at a hotel, I can never find anything worth paying that bill again.

We want to drop our direct tv but my husband LOVES all of the sports stuff so he can watch baseball, football and hockey(obviously not a prob right now). I’m clueless how to access sports wo cable.
by (1k points)
@mezzorelievo we just dropped DirecTV and they told us during Football season we could get one tuner and pay $15 a month plus cost of Sunday Ticket. Otherwise YouTubeTV has most of the sports channels
by (2.6k points)
@gruesome Kolodkin Kimbrell ooh thanks
by (2.6k points)
@gruesome Kolodkin Kimbrell fl you have to pay for you tube tv?
by (1k points)
Yes, it's $50 a month but you get all local channels and most cable ones like Bravo, ESPN, etc. You can record shows, pause live tv. We've been really happy with it. You can also do a free trial before signing up, so we did that before cutting Directv.

I haven't had cable in over 14+ years. Cut it out to save money when getting married and never went back. We are not a sports watching family though. Right now we do have Netflix and Disney+.

We dropped cable in February. Only missed it a couple times so far. We have Sling and don’t have ESPN so I’m missing the Jordan documentary  Once sports start up, we’ll have to switch or add more channels. The kids only watch YouTube for free on our Roku these days but we did the Disney+ trial when Onward was released. We have an antenna for local channels but can’t DVR so that annoys me too bc I don’t watch my shows until the kids are in bed and never the day they air. But to save some money it’s fine for now. You’re not locked in to anything so we can always tweak things down the line. It took awhile to adjust to not having everything in one spot.

Dropped cable 2 years ago and just reduced our Hulu Live subscription. Every once in a while there may be something I wish I could see but overall, I don't see myself ever going back. We have Hulu on demand, prime, Disney+, and Netflix and honestly, we could probably reduce those.

We dropped a few months ago, right before all the craziness started. Best choice ever now that we're under a bit more of a stricter budget. We switched to YouTube TV mostly for the included DVR, then also have Netflix, Prime, Hulu, Disney+, and CBS all access. All that and still considerably cheaper than dish

We have been cable free for 8 years, only time I have ever missed it is when something is live and hard to get on streaming like when the Cubs went to the World Series. We have an AppleTv set on 2 of our 3 tvs and Roku on the third. All stream Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Prime, and YouTube. We don't pay for any extra apps but I know others that are into certain sports do. We use WOW for internet.

by (2.6k points)
@crackleware me too. without paying an arm and a leg
by (770 points)
@mezzorelievo during football season I had sling ($24) and paid for the NFL add-on which was I think $10 a month. Canceled it all once football ended.
by (2.6k points)
@pradeep college football too?
by (770 points)
@crackleware we could watch most of the college games thru the regular sling pkgs- we would switch back-and-forth between packages to get the channel we needed for a particular game. Super easy and flexible.
