Not due until October, but how do I apply for a pump with BCBS? I tried online through a organization but the insurance questions confused me because they wanted the name of who was on the insurance (which is my husband, I'm a dependent) and then for my assigned OB (don't have one, I see a group of 5 OBs and a midwife). So they denied it.

Ask at your doctor's office. They should be able to help you. Any of the OB's at the office should be able to be listed as the "assigned OB. " If PPO- you should just need a Rx from your doctor, If HMO you'll also need an authorized referral.

Five years back when I got one from BCBS, I just had to call their customer care line and answer a few questions. They mailed it to me in a few days after I had spoken to them.

My OB gave me a website to order from based on my insurance. I am not the insurance carrier, my husband is which I’m sure is the situation for most people. I just picked one of the OB’s from the practice as the primary because my “main” doctor retired halfway through my pregnancy. I think everything took about 2 weeks and they sent my pump right away even though they say you won’t get it until closer to your due date. I would ask your OB who you should order through. A popular pump website that I wanted to use did not support BCBS so I had to order from the place my doctor’s office told me to.

Just call Bcbs and they will give you a list of medical suppliers you can order from. Then go to their site and put in your info. You may need a script from your ob and then you can just pick one to put down.

I just got mine through this place: for the form I picked one of my obs (I see a group as well), and I believe I just put my name as opposed to husbands on insurance. They were super fast!

I see a group as well and mY experience 4 years ago with BCBS was I needed a referral or prescription from both one of my OBs AND my pediatrician. And then once it was approved, they sent me to a specific place to order a pump from one of their 4 offered options. Not sure if it has changed, but perhaps it’ll send you in the right direction. I had to call into BCBS to figure it all out then. Might be worth finding out directly from them what the needs are.

Check out NEB Medical Services. They’ll work with your doctors office. I qualified for pump, maternity belt, and post partum belt at no cost.

This place is awesome. Enter your insurance information and the name of any doctor you have seen in your practice and they will call the office and insurance company and email you a list of pumps your plan covers. They arrange shipping and everything. Hassle free. Had an amazing experience with them

I used Neb Medical, super easy works the same as Aeroflow, but the upgrade from the Spectra 2 to the 1 was cheaper.
