Is there a place that is similar to Destin (lots to do and great beach) that isn’t Destin? My family loves Clearwater Beach and we definitely enjoyed Destin but we’re looking for somewhere new. ☀️

I just drove back from the beach in Venice, Florida. Venice is the shark teeth capital of the world. You get sea "rakes" and scoop up sharks teeth that are millions of years old. This is my haul today. I'm addicted to hunting for them and no where else has them.

@hein14105 Thanksne Friker also manasota key had them

That is right next to South Venice so close enough! Caspersen has the best hunting grounds according to the divers I spoke with.

My sister has a vacation home in Venice and she has a jar with at least 1000 or more shark's teeth in it. It is so much fun!

I know it’s close to Destin but have you ever gone to Panama City Beach?

@jody hey Angie! We’re looking at PCB. Can you believe the kids are almost 14 and 10 now? What would you recommend for them while there, other than the beach?
by (630 points)
@sourwood1563 No, I can’t believe they are that old! Owen is 20. I haven’t been there for a few years but we went for like 5 years in a row LOL. When Owen was that age. There’s this whole outdoor area called Pier Park it has outdoor rides restaurants a movie theater etc. Then in the general area it’s kind of like Wisconsin Dells there is so much to do. Mini golf, bunjee jump, etc. then we would always do an excursion like snorkeling and then do something by our condo like parasail or banana boat etc. you will never be bored there!

@tripetalous would you mind sharing what you love about Gulf Shores? I know a lot of people who have been there and love it too.
by (1.1k points)
@sourwood1563 it was a stretch of ocean with tons of resorts but enough room to spread out, bars on the beach that were family friendly and fun for all ages, and some activities within 30 mins or so like a zoo and gator farm

Hilton Head, SC is my favorite for the South and during the summer, it’s actually cooler than many southern locations (80’s when everything else is 90’s plus).

All great beaches and wonderful areas! We’re looking for somewhere that has a lot for kids ages 10-14, other than only the beach.
by (810 points)
@sourwood1563 would you consider leaving the country? We are taking the kids BACK to Cabo San Lucas because they still talk all the time about last years trip and hotel. If so, I’ll share more deets with you.

Oh. And we have done Siesta Key and Anna Maria Island. Both were great. We actually did “side” trips to Legoland and Disney during each of those trips which added some fun variety without park overkill.

@crean7 Bloch Moore thanks girl! We’ve done the same with going to the parks for a few days and then the beach. I’m glad you reminded me of that! ❤️ My kids get bored with just the beach stuff after a couple days. It’s nice to mix it up for sure!

You can go to the Roanoake Aquarium and see how they save the turtles! The Beach! I’d def stay at a place with a pool! We stay at the Croatian Surf Club!

I drove there last year with my two daughters anytime it’s available for the week we go! I just love the area! People who vacation there are just super nice and chill! I’d def day you have to go into Duck and Corolla too! Both towns are really cool! Corolla has the wild horses! And Duck is just a neat little town!
