Here’s my Ogden Six story. And how my eyes were opened to just how CHEAP some people were/are? This is when it was ONLY ONE DOLLAR to get in. ONE DOLLAR! To see Older Second Run movies. I purchased my ticket and showed it to the Usher. I walked in a few feet and waited in the concession line. (Remember back then it was only a few feet from the front door to the concession line? ) It was very busy, with people streaming in and out. I watched people entering and showing the Usher their tickets. One lady in particular had just stepped in and actually stood by me as I waited in line . We moved up a few steps when after a few moments she turned and headed out the door. She made it a point to show the Usher that she had her movie stub and said she had forgotten something in her car. The Usher acknowledged her and went about his business of tearing the stubs of busy moviegoers. As I’m STILL waiting in line, I see this woman coming back through the front door. She’s motioning with both her hands (sans a stub) to the Usher as if to be asking him, Do you remember me? Of course being that it was busy, he acknowledges her and waves her in. RIGHT BEHIND HER, and in tow, is this guy. And he’s waving a ticket stub to the Usher. The Usher stops him briefly and gentleman says he had forgotten something in the car and that HE HAD A TICKET STUB TO RE-ENTER. And He lets him in too. Lol. I’m watching this all unfold and thinking. Are you kidding me? It’s a DOLLAR to get in. One STICKEN DOLLAR. After the guy came through he had an ear to ear grin as he went to embrace the lady and they both laughed and chuckled into the theatre. OMG. All for a lousy BUCK. Lol. THAT. Is what I’ll remember the most about Ogden Six Discounted Movie Theatre.
