Weather forecast says 73 and  Tuesday! What are your outside plans? ETA: Within social distance guidelines. Because apparently my post might suggest otherwise!

Well. being shelter in place just like the last 2/3 weeks. Not being an asshat. trying to flatten the curve by not bombarding the general population. I mean what is there really to do other than hangout outside in your yard?
by (280 points)
@falsehood121 she could mean in her own backyard
by (2k points)
@falsehood121 Yup, I didn’t feel the need to have to explain that we aren’t going to the beach? I meant how is everyone celebrating the nice weather outside. Sheesh!
by (2.7k points)
@falsehood121 This is you *not being an asshat*?
by (2k points)
@fino I think social distancing is making some people a tad bit cranky. I’m giving everyone a pass!

Sleeping in the tent in the backyard!
by (2k points)
@discount oooh now that is a good idea! Not for my family though because they couldn’t handle it but I used to pitch a tent in my childhood home all the time. And then my sister would ditch me in the middle of the night
by (3.2k points)
@gyrostatic7 it’s also an extra play space for the kids or an office for my husband!
by (2k points)
@discount ha! Feel you. Not sure why my hubs felt the need to start invading my craft space these last few weeks.

by (13.3k points)
@gyrostatic7 I did my front and side yard today. I just have to do the other side and back yard later . Soil is nice and soft. I can’t believe how many weeds already bloomed. I filled a bucket
by (2k points)
@mauro169 I planted seed I want to say about a week ago. And the flowers in the front are already sprouting. I love the transformation of Spring

I can’t see that far ahead to the future but we’ll most likely limit e-learning to the morning and stay outside the rest of the day. Maybe have a picnic?
by (2k points)
@surveying it’s just something to look forward to I guess. I’m that person who packs for a trip 6 months before departure
by (9.9k points)
Oh yeah I look forward to the future as well. Taking things day by day at the moment though-we were supposed to go to Italy the day after Easter for a friend’s wedding(now cancelled). Bought our airfare and booked our hotels last summer. So much for planning. but I did have fun making an itinerary, researching hotels, and reading up on places to eat/things to do in Rome. Now I’m looking forward to living another day with my family.
by (2k points)
@surveying that’s how I do our family trips. I even color code the pages by day. We are in a new normal, for me being able to plan for something helps
by (9.9k points)
Love planning trips! Hopefully this all will end some day and I’d like to take a year off and take the kids around the world. We’d have to start in Italy!
by (2k points)
@surveying Italy is my dream vacay but probably without my kiddos

It’s supposed to be inclement weather Monday-Tuesday. If it’s not, we may take a mini hike.

@sulfapyridine it keeps going back and forth. Fingers crossed for no rain!

I am planning on doing “ice excavating” with the kids. Probably a walk and just general outside play time.
by (2k points)
What is "ice excavating"
by (2.9k points)
@gyrostatic7 you freeze things in ice and then kids use droppers (or squeeze bottles) filled with warm water to melt the ice and get the things out. I’m doing tiny rubber duckies frozen in egg shaped ice so they can help “hatch the baby ducks” as kind of an Easter themed activity.
by (2k points)
What are you using for the molds?
by (2.9k points)
@gyrostatic7 balloons. You inflate the balloon a little and hold it for about 30 seconds to stretch it a little. Then let the air out and shove your items inside (this may be a two person job). Then you fill the balloon with water until it’s the size you want. Tie it and freeze it. Then when you are ready for the activity you can just cut the balloon right off.
by (2k points)
@randell3175 oh that sounds easy. I might steal this idea and add food coloring.
by (2.9k points)
@gyrostatic7 food coloring is a great idea!  these are the ducks I got to freeze inside.
by (2.9k points)
You can also just freeze random stuff in a bucket for kids to try to get out like this but I really wanted to do Easter themed activities this week.
by (2k points)
@randell3175 I like the Easter/spring themed. I can see the kids giving me an hour of free time doing this activity.
by (2.9k points)
@gyrostatic7 for sure!

So many great suggestions, as for me, I might pick up my old bike hangin in my parents' garage and take the kiddos on their first family bike ride since ditching the bike trailer. I anticipate this being a complete failure with 1 kid riding 2 wheels and 2 kids on training wheels. Probably easier to walk. but you know #momgoals #niceweathergoals
