Have others also been getting notices from Nicor that you need to make an appointment to change your gas meter and install a 2 way device?

Yes i got a notice because i keep my back fence locked. I called to schedule and kept my fence unlocked. No one needs to be home. They simply need access. If you have pets keep them inside during the window time frame you schedule.

Yes, they installed an automatic read meter.

It takes about 15 minutes to do an inside install and obviously an adult needs to be home.

Yes. We got original note in November from the village, I think. You can verify with village. In my case they added a part to make it able to read wirelessly. They do have to make an original read in house to "trigger"the system. Be sure you verify credentials. You can also make an appointment.

Yes but they came and ours was “too old” so they left. Haven’t heard anything else yet. Ours is inside.

Yep but I didn’t have to schedule anything. Mine is outside so they just did it whenever they were around the last time and sent me a notice that it was already done

My meter is outside and they did an upgrade last year. But I received another notice this year. I will absolutely NOT take a day off from work for NICOR unless they reimburse me my missed wages. They need to figure out their own BS.
