I think people have different situations. Maybe some people work overnights, while another has to be at work at 6. Therefore, parking in the driveway doesn’t make sense for both cars. I know people in that exact situation. The way I see it, is everyone pays the same taxes and has the same rights to use the streets to park. I doubt they do it just to inconvenience others. Lol

@whiny so for one day they couldn't make an exception, come on.

And after the plows got stuck on my street last year because of people who could be in their driveways and choose not to, the village sent a letter at the beginning of winter asking us to use our driveways because our street is so narrow.

@catechist92165 I am just saying, we have no idea what is going on in people’s lives, or why they are parking on the street. That was one example. It’s a minor inconvenience, and people act like their lives are forever changed.
by (1k points)
@whiny though I see what you are saying ……. The one year Niles called peoples phones and said please don't park in the street if you have a driveway please use it. …. what could be so pressing in your life besides child birth that you cant move your car?
by (2.2k points)
@whiny yeah I’m sorry but there have been multiple times where my husband has to wake me up so we could switch cars so he could get to work. Then I went back to bed ‍♀️ might be annoying to do that every day/night so I don’t blame them for parking on the street in that situation but when it snows, park in your drive way and figure it out
by (4.3k points)
@mock88 I hear ya. I just mean that we never know what is going on in people’s lives. Did they just have a baby? Did they spend all night in the hospital with a sick/dying friend or relative? Are they working 2 jobs to support their family and getting no sleep as it is so they want to get that extra 5 min of sleep when they are already only getting 4 hours that night? We just don’t know. ‍♀️ I just try to be sensitive, that’s all. It does inconvenience me, but when I think of others, it bothers me less.
by (2.2k points)
@whiny then they should park close to their own driveway and not the neighbors lol
by (4.5k points)
@jolandajolanta he can't move them himself?
by (2.2k points)
@augury who can’t move what?
by (2.2k points)
@augury Oh my husband? He totally can and if the baby had a rough night (aka I was up all night) he will move the cars by himself.  My point is, if there is REALLY a valid reason as to why someone can’t park in their driveway, then at least park it in front of your own house instead of close to your neighbors driveway so they don’t have to reap the consequences of not getting completely plowed ‍♀️

I'm on the corner of a snow route, but my street isn't, so everyone from the adjacent street clogs up my street so I have like 5-10 feet of snow to take care of past my driveway since the plow can't get to it.

Why, because cars that could park in their driveway don't and now the end of my driveway isnt plowed

Yep! I have to do like a 12 point turn everyday to get out of my driveway because people box me in from getting out of my driveway. Add the snow and it is a ton of fun.

I literally lose sleep over this shit. I live on a dead end and our street looks like shit every time it snows

I know people who do that all the time and it’s not when it’s snowing it’s all year round. I switch 3-4 cars out of my driveway daily, it’s what you do. And especially when it snows I don’t want to have to dig myself out from being plowed in.

Already shoveled this morning at 5am but by the look of @catechist92165 picture I will have to re shovel when I get home! If you park in front of my house there is no way you are walking home bet you get an Uber to prove your point hahahahahaha

It does bother me. As a courtesy to our neighbors and our village services, cars should not be parked on the street until after they have had a chance to plow. Of course there are always going to be exceptions of why someone had to park in the street, but that should be the rare exception. It’s typically one night/day.

It’s very inconsiderate to the snow plows and to neighbors when people do this. We lived on a narrow street with no parking restrictions. Our across the street neighbors would park 2 of their cars on the street, directly behind our driveway. When it snowed and the plow came through, they had to push all the snow on our side, which would block our driveway and make it really difficult to back out given how little space we had with the two cars behind our driveway and the narrow street. I asked the neighbors if they could move their cars; they said no bc they don’t like to park in their driveway (which could fit 4 cars). Some people are just really selfish and inconsiderate. We have since moved but we dealt with it for 6 years.

It's unbelievable. I get that some driveways are narrow and a family might have multiple cars, but please, make an exception when it snows.

What really bothers me are those who park on the street with their passenger side blocking the SIDE WALK! It’s a side WALK not a side PARK. Newcastle people between Madison and Cleveland are the worst! And then they bitch and complain when asked to use their driveways.
by (3.6k points)
@ban3 they could get a ticket for blocking the side walk. Call police
by (8k points)
@snick Scarpelli I do call the police and the sidewalks are clear for about one day. I can only do so much!

The village needs to enforce the law and ticket those cars.
by (9.4k points)
Why’s that? I pay for a city sticker to park on the road. If they can’t do there job they should stay home with a hottiii tottiiiii. I park on the road during storms because no one holds my hand at work. I’m not holding there’s. They need to train better if it’s an issue.

If I have to buy a city sticker to park on the street I’m parking on the street 365. I’m getting my moneys worth.
by (1.3k points)
You can get a ticket for no sticker whether you're driving or parked on the street. So by you logic speed limits don't apply to you because you have a sticker on your windshield. I say go for it! Drive like a lunatic! You have sticker-immunity!
by (9.4k points)
You can’t get a ticket if you have a sticker if parked on the street. That’s what it’s for street parking. As long as the registration on dat ass is solid and your obeying the signs you goood boiiiii.
