Random question does anyone know why the fire hydrants are now painted white? Is it just a primer?

Copied from another page: Whats that sound in your neighborhood? Oh that's sandblasting and priming fire hydrants. This work keeps the fire hydrants in our neighborhoods looking presentable. Most importantly per the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), the village hydrants will be uniformly color-coded to indicate water-flow capabilities to inform our firefighters. The water flow capabilities come from the villages annual fire hydrant flow testing. Mine was just sandblasted it's silver.

White wont work in the summer with snow covering them!

They are painting them yellow. The guy just left
