Best to ask for their permit to go door to door soliciting business. They need a permit from the village

And if they don’t have one I’ve called the non emergency police number

@glassine22071 my husband is calling them to cancel the estimate lol. I am a total yes man and would probably invite Ted Bundy in if he asked for water

Stay away, my parents went along with those "storm chaisers" and were quoted twice the amount it actually took to replace the roof and siding. When they decided to go with local contractor, they reported to their insurance that they were trying to scam them. They are bad people.

@ibnrushd I am so sorry that happened to your parents!

@mama23439 very unfortunate that there's a lot of people out there that are looking to make a quick buck at the expense of insurance companies and unaware folks. That's why we all pay higher premiums. my parents ended up ok after paying the scammers $500 to make them go away and pull their "scam" complaint. I wanted to start legal action but they asked me to leave it alone.

I think you should report them to the police. We’re under a quarantine. - Karen

You can call Niles Police and they will let you know who has a permit to do door to door.

Be wary of free roofs. Even if it’s a valid claim. One can end up paying higher premiums for ever.

Be careful with this, I have heard some stories with the roofing and the scamming or distraction to rob you, or coming back later to return when your not home. I’d defiantly check with the police.

I do have a couple of friends that do this type of "storm chaser work". They inspect your roof then contact the insurance company to get approval for the work.
