Thinking ahead to the fall. My niece is moving here and has a part time HS teaching position. Of course I encouraged her and said she would have no problem doing remote Spanish and Chinese language tutoring after 1 pm. And of course I have no idea what I'm talking about. Is this a reasonable route for her to supplement her income? What is a reasonable rate for her to charge? Thanks for any insights and saving me from overreaching in my enthusiasm for having her nearby.

I know several people who do VIP online. It’s teaching English to children in China. I know some people who make $2, 000 a month doing it.

Not sure that’s what she’s like but it’s definitely an option!

I think if she advertises herself on mommail and some FB groups this is definitely reasonable. My husband used to take 1:1 Chinese lessons weekly and we paid $30 for a 45 min session (this was like 5 years ago)- but I think if she puts a little effort into marketing herself there is definitely interest in this (adult and child)

I’d love to introduce my 2 year old to Spanish. We were set up to start lessons in March but things were halted with this pandemic.

If she needs a place to stay, even short term, let me know. I have a 2 br furnished apartment near Fenwick that is currently empty.
