Does a wedding cake to serve 50 people for under $200 exist? Lol Reached out to a few bakeries and nobody will even give me a ballpark price. My theme is enchanted forest, looking for a simple simple cake all white with a couple flowers, vanilla filling with custard. SIMPLE but pretty. If anyone has any recommendations or better ideas please let me know!

My mom makes beautiful wedding cakes. She made mine. She made my cousins. Truly beautiful. And delicious. She does not have a business. She just has a talent. If you would be interested I could get you her contact information. I know it sounds weird but people keep telling her she should go into business. It’s just all the licensing stuff that she doesn’t want to go through.

So get a small cake for yourself to cut into and feed each other. THEN get a sheet cake from costco or sams club or heck even jewel for the rest of the guests (costco is my jam). NO ONE will care after shoving sugar into their mouths.

What about a couple of small cakes instead of one big one

Try saying it’s for a party, not a wedding.

Custom? Honestly, probably not. Most 2 tier custom cakes start at 120-150 depending on what you want (design, fondant work, artistry, etc). Say wedding and I'm sure there's automatically a markup.

Walmart I got a two tier cake to cut and got a sheet cake to match and it was under $100 everyone thought it was from a bakery.

@lowson Walmart’s buttercream is too thick though. Especially when there is food coloring. Meijer cakes are better but more expensive.

Party vs wedding won’t make a difference when you’re looking at the # to feed and the decorating of cake. I have seen/ heard many friends do a sheet cake for guests and a more custom smaller cake for the cutting. Or cupcakes for guests and a custom smaller cake for cutting. Good luck! Sounds like a cute theme!

Honestly, not really! For 50 people, you should expect, at (bare bare bare) minimum, $150. Cake making, when you’re not using frozen cake and frosting that has sat in a warehouse for months, (read: Costco/Sam’s/Jewel, etc), is expensive and a labor of love. It takes a lot of work to make “simple” look and taste good.

I have ordered a bunch of cakes from Sams Club. They do a 3 tier for $65 I think. And they can do a little customization. I do it all the time. We just ordered one this summer for my husbands grandparents 65th anniversary party and it was amazing.

Ok. so it won’t be a popular option. but the Jewel Bakery did mine a million years ago. It was Much less. Maybe check commercial bakeries if the private ones are a strike out.

When we got married we had a small cake for cutting and assorted cupcakes for the guests (and me). Much cheaper than a big cake. We went to Sweet Dreams Bakery in DeKalb. My favorite since college.

One of the great things about @manager is that she does not automatically raise her prices when she hears its a wedding! Her cakes are amazing and delicious!

If @mokas5899 at Sweet Temptations Dessert Company LLC says she will help, take her up on it. Even if they do a beautiful centerpiece cake with cupcakes (is that more affordable? ), the quality is worth it.
