Question

Back spasms.  OH, BACK SPASMS!Back spasms. OH, BACK SPASMS! What type of doctor can treat serious, recurring back spasm issues? There has to be something underlying that’s exacerbating the injury as this has been a 20 year journey and I just can’t take it anymore. A chiropractor is not the answer. Haaalllppp.

I have the same issue. I go to Impact Sports Rehab and Chiropractic don’t let the chiropractic in the title scare you. They are so much more. She does deep tissue muscle release and has a muscle stimulating machine she can hook up plus give you stretching type things to do at home. No chiropractor adjustment needed. They are seeing patients now

I had horrible back spasms and sciatica pain a few years back. I wanted to cut my leg off because the pain from my back would shoot down my hip and leg. Acupuncture helped temporarily but I ended up going to pain management specialist and got steroid shots directly into my nerves and spine and he killed some nerve endings too. Helped a lot but I still get breakthrough pain and spasms if I sit wrong for long periods of time but it’s dull enough that a heating pad helps. I have scoliosis and bulging discs and the chiropractor along with PT helped alleviate that issue.

An MRI will really help determine what is going on so you can figure out what therapies are needed (pain management, steroid injection, physical therapy, surgery, etc. ) But a good place to start is a true diagnosis before you can begin to heal.
