I hope this is ok.  A friend of mine is trying to get their life back on track and needs SR22 insurance.I hope this is ok. A friend of mine is trying to get their life back on track and needs SR22 insurance. Does anyone have any experience with this? Cost? Good company to go with? They are definitely on a budget right now!

I am an insurance agent and unfortunately, auto insurance with an SR-22 is not really cheap. Off the top of my head, companies that I am almost positive will write one are: Progressive, Safe Auto, The General, I believe that State Farm and Geico will as well.

@mnemonics Is there a standard price range they can expect to see/pay? It's an older car. I can vary but just looking more for something like: double regular insurance, around $200-$300, around $500, etc.

@proximal That would probably be my assumption, that whatever they were paying before, double it just to give them and idea. It may end up being lower, every state varies.

Years ago I needed SR22 insurance and I went with The General. I’d recommend them. Very easy to deal with. They were the most reasonable at that time.
