Would love some advice and suggestions. We are most likely going to need to get a gas saving vehicle soon. Hubby got a new job and he travels around to many job sites daily and has a two hour daily commute to the office. He currently has an old truck which sucks gas and we’ve dropped over $1500 into it over the past 6 months yet there is always something else that needs repairing. Dilemmas  he doesn’t want to get rid of his truck (which it’s old so we probably wouldn’t get much as a trade in for it)  he has mentioned leasing a car ( I don’t think this is a good option) we don’t have thousands of dollars put away to buy outright  any suggestions on how we could make tho work?  Suggestions on good cars that are good on gas and not outrageously expensive?
Would love some advice and suggestions.

If he’s driving that much a lease will be a very bad choice. Thankspically they only allow 12-15k miles/year. Anything over they charge you for.

I drive a 2015 Spark and my daughter just bought a 2020 Spark for $12, 000. Gets 34-40 miles a gallon. We both love it.

I drive a 2013 Honda Civic and I get 40- 50 miles a gallon. A very reliable vehicle, you can typically get 350-400 thousand miles out of the vehicle. With only doing regular maintenance on them like oil changes, new brakes, new tires etc. (I live in Canada)

One of the reasons I purchased a KIA is because they have good ratings and are quite inexpensive. BUT, I discovered that MY KIA only gets something like 13 miles per gallon. If I were someone who does a lot of driving, that MPG could be pretty expensive! If you're not going to get much for your old truck and if your insurance isn't too high, you might consider keeping it as a "hauling truck". Ours is so old I'm sure we'd have to pay someone to take it, but it sure is nice to have a paid-off work horse when we need it. Why not Google pros and cons of leasing a vehicle and read what the experts have to say about it?

@pons5698 what Kia do you have that gets such poor milage? My Sorento gets 28 on a bad day over 30 on a good day.

It's a Soul. SHOULD be getting much better mileage! My grandson has the exact same car and gets over 25 MPG. We both do about the same town vs interstate driving. I just don't know why my lil' ol' Soul gets such poor mileage.

@pons5698 I love my Sorento. My step daughter has an 11 forte that gets really good mileage also. I'm sorry you got a "dud".

No to the lease! Especially with mileage. Get a good toyota or honda . they run forever, easy maintenance and good gas mileage
