Question

What do you all do with your old stuffed animals/beanie babies? I just found three giant bins in my basement and I want to get rid of most. Thanks moms!

I've got a ton as well. I didn't think many places accepted them as donations because they are difficult to sanitize. I hate to throw them all out! i tried to make a bean bag out of beanie babies, but it's really heavy.

I had a difficult time as I initially wanted to donate them to hospitals as when they first came out, neonatal units were using them. Donations quit however because of the risk to the infant (coming from home with animals, smoke, excess germs etc. ). I ended up finding a location 45 minutes a way that used them for children of domestic abuse calls! It was a win for me.

@liebig748 thank you! Beanie Babies make excellent little reading buddies and sensory buddies for my students. They also like to talk to them when they are upset or sad and don’t want to talk to an adult.

I donated to a place that gave them to victims of abuse. Like fire and police dept used them.

Double check to see of any of them are worth anything first.

If you spray them they can be donated to DCFS for children who have taken away. Because it's confusing to them a stuffed animal tends to give them comfort.
