If you’re willing to travel Dr. Stephen Hanuer at Northwestern is the BEST. I’m 37 and have needed a GI since I was 15 so I know who’s good and who’s not. He is world renowned -people come to him from all over the country. He is kind and compassionate. Very knowledgeable. I have Crohn’s disease. I went to 3 different gastroenterologists and all told me INACCURATE information. One doctor in hinsdale told me I needed half my intestines out a colostomy bag. Thank goodness I saw Dr Hanuer! He said I didn’t need surgery and has put me in remission. Even though I hate commuting to the city I will only see him. I refuse to go to anyone else. Dr. ’s in Hinsdale. Downers Grove (suburbs) were only a waste of time and money for me personally. They also didn’t seem to know as much as the doctors at big universities. UIC would be my second choice.
