A root canal doesnt leave any nerves in the tooth so you shouldn't feel anything because there are no nerves there anymore. So it either they didnt pull all the nerves out or it's the tooth next to it. Call the dentist to do xrays to see if they got all nerves out.

Karolina, a tooth can become abscessed again without the nerve in the root. The pain is not the nerve but the abscess area.

This happened to me and I ended up losing the tooth. It started breaking off in pieces and became so infected that extraction was my only option.

I did. My root was long and kind of curved at the end so getting the full tooth was difficult. I ended up needing an implant.

Yes I did! Found out my original dentist filled my tooth with GLUE! ended up seeing an endodontist and he was able to save my tooth! See Dr. El Assad at Naperfield endodontics

I did! It was years later and I ended up in the ER, my face was swollen like a balloon, I had to have my gums drained and a a tube put in. It was horrible! And scary. Please do not wait to get it looked at !

I did. I ended up having an Apicoectomy. That worked.

A root canal tooth can get an abscess again without the nerve being present. The pain maybe from the abscess area and not the nerve area of the tooth. Apicoectomy is probably what they will recommend.

Who did your root canal? I learned the hard way that my dentist should not be doing my root canals. I had to have 2 redone. Endodontist is the one who should do it.

@scholz95 an endodontist

@waggle mine was done by a dentist in Shorewood. He did the root canal, filled it with glue! I went back several times to him with severe pain. He told me on visit #3 "I'm not giving you anything for pain! " Which isn't what I wanted! I just wanted it fixed! Ended up needing 2 treatments at the endodontist to dissolve the glue and then the second to actually fix it. Cost me almost 10k out of pocket when all was said and done.

Yup! I’ve had 3 that went bad. Just had the third one pulled 3 weeks ago. Two of them had to have a retreat and had to be pulled anyway. (My teeth are so bad)

I saw this post and laughed a little since last night my crown came off in the middle of dinner and I bit down on it and broke it into a million pieces

Yep. Had to go back three months later bc they didn’t “get the root out completely”. Ended up with an abscess and bad infection, had to have my tooth extracted a few months later. Not good times.

My husband had one and they missed a root. He had an extra one the regular dentist did not see but a specialist had to fix it.

Gargle with warm salt water couple times a day until you see your dentist. It could be an infection brewing!

I had a failed root canal. If I remember correctly most people have 2 roots and I had 3. They went back in and fixed it at no additional charge

@matchbox - yes, And they had to extract the tooth. After extraction you can either do a bridge (depending on location) or an implant.
