Be your son's voice and demand a MRI. To many doctors brush off serious issues.

@sech425 agreed! while yeah, it can probably just be growing pains. You are his mother and nobody will know him like you. A situation happen with my daughter where they told me to brush it off and ended up being something major. Not that this will be the case with you, but you just never know . for a peace of mind just know that you can ask and don't be afraid to.

I had them as a kid and my daughter gets them as well. We usually do the heating pad at night to help with them

Yes my 6th grader just a few weeks ago was in so much pain in his thigh. So I took him to Immediate Care and the doctor said he has flat feet and needs to see a podiatrist. So we got a referral from our pediatrician and sure enough he needed insoles. Which we pick up this Saturday. He’s been ok and the pain subsided. As soon as we get the insoles I’ll be taking him gym-shoe shopping. The podiatrist told me what to look for in a gym shoe for him.

My son has bad leg pain. I took him in after he had trouble walking to the car after school. It ended up being low vitamin c levels. Now he takes vitamin c every day and it has helped a ton!

He might be magnesium deficient. Start by talking to the doctor and then get further testing if symptoms don't get better after adding a magnesium supplement as well as more magnesium containing foods. My son has had this his whole life and I have as well. I have found out now that there was a serious health condition linked to those "Growing pains". You can pm me if you want. The term is a brushed off term used by doctors who don't know the cause. Find another doctor or push the one you have that the term "growing pains" is not acceptable if it is not just brief pain. Think about it this way. everyone grows. So why doesn't every single person hurt? There's reasons why some get pains and some don't.

Mine does when she eats gluten. My pediatrician also recommended upping her magnesium.

Yes! My daughter is 7 and 2 years ago it was constant all the time at night. The doc also said growing pains I did proceed to make sure cause there was more issues than just her legs they did blood work on her and everything else and it actually was just growing pains. She still complains here and there about them but I rub Vick’s on her calves at night when they hurt and it helps her. If you feel it’s more than get your child check throughly but like I said my daughters were just growing pains;)

My daughter had pain so bad she refused to walk. Her pediatrician said growing pains too. Randomly talking to my chiropractor about it, he suggested upping her magnesium and vitamin c. Maybe it was growing pains and they passed or maybe the vitamins helped ‍♀️

Vans, Converse etc. all horrible for back/support. What type of shoe is he wearing?!

Our podiatrist said New Balance was one of the good choices.

Look into having him sized properly for a good supportive pair of shoes!

I bought something for like $10 at Walgreens I think Jewel has them called the bed buddy. You microwave it for 90 seconds and you put it on their leg and give him a Thankslenol

My son had leg pain starting very young. It would be wake him up at night. His Dr. said as long as they are primarily during the night it’s growing pains. If it starts to be during the day they would look into other things. He is about to be 11 and it has tapered down to practically nothing.

Mine did too, sometimes bones grow faster than muscles and ligaments can stretch. Hot baths and heating pad always helped.

I am bringing my 7yo daughter to the dr tomorrow for leg pain she’s complaining of. She’s had it off and on for a year or so. I think it’s growing pains but I want to rule out anything else.

My friend’s daughter did that and it turned out to Ehlers Dohan or however you spell it. My daughter had it and it was just growing pains. So videotape her in pain and bring that in to see if it’s more extreme.

I’ve had them as a little girl. And it’s really painful. My mom use to warm my legs as warmest as possible and that helped me a lot.

Had this problem growing up. I was over active and not stretching enough. My recommendation is to up intake of water, baths to relax muscles before bed, and stretching!

This was my 2nd grader! She would be in tears! Our general dr sent us to an orthopedic who then sent us to luries thinking she had arthritis. turns out she's very flat footed, hyperflexible and just needed some fitted orthotics! No pain since!

Try a magnesium supplement. It's worked wonders for us. Good luck. Pain sucks.

Honestly, legs hurting is a symptom of anxiety in children. I wish I would have known that when my son was young.

This helps my children - when they have these episodes- I was told it was in their heads and it’s growing pains. It’s a deficiency for sure and this helps- magnesium
