We have a trip planned over spring break to visit family in Florida. So nervous to fly with our 2 year old and all of the sickness/viruses going around. Contemplating canceling flights and driving. Am I overreacting and being *that* mom?! Side note- This would be her 15th flight and I have never been this nervous before! Never even really thought twice about it until all of the influenza and corona.  Help!

I see your concerns! Most people have postponed traveling right now. You could always bring hand sanitizer and use it throughout the airport and also bring Lysol wipes and wipe down the seats before sitting her down. Also she can wear a mask if she will keep it on. And start giving her more vitamin C & D to strengthen her immune system some more.

We are headed there too-we still plan on going unless they put any travel limits on. And I am a huge worrier/germaphobe. I’m bringing wipes, and making sure we all wash our hands well. So we shall see!

Trust your gut and don’t worry about being “that” mom if you feel that you’re doing what’s best for your family!

I wouldn’t fly. I’m a germaphobe anyway and the thought of sitting in a sealed flying can while all this is going on is no for me.  I wouldn’t get on a floating can either.

If it makes you feel better my dad read that the coronavirus is not affecting anybody under the age of 15

I’m sorry correction, only 1% of affected are children and none have died

I've flown 3 times in that 14 days. You'll be fine. Wash your hands, don't touch your face. All will be fine. Carry hand sanitizer if that will make you more comfortable.

I flew last night with my kiddo. Was so anxious and nervous prior. I just talked to my kids about not touching anything. I had them keep hands in pocket till I wiped down our entire seat area. Then I gave them wipes for their hands. Most of the people were doing the same. All we can do is stay proactive and protect our selfs. Educate our kids on staying germ free.

I will also add when we go to our location, I lysoled our bags in and out & changed our clothes and washed immediately

Be careful - wash hands, take hand sanitizer - but take your trip.

We just flew to and from Arizona with our 2. 5 year old and 3 month old. We did wipe down the arm rests, tray tables and wall (by window seat) before any of us touched them. We also washed everyone's hands frequently especially my 2. 5 year old's. I also always use a paper towel or napkin to open the bathroom door handles after I'd washed my hands (always do). I tried to keep my 2. 5 year old in the double stroller as much as possible in the airport so he didn't touch much. So far, we are all fine.
