Yes, definitely. We didn’t have one when we bought our pool and tried to go without, but it takes sooooo long for the water to be a swimmable temp when you open it each year. Now we open, crank the heat for a day and can enjoy. Necessity!

YES! Solar covers don’t cut it. With heater, we sometimes use pool into April- October depending on weather. Not this April

YES! The summer is so short and the heater really does add life to the pool. Plus it’s definitely easier to just take it all on at once. You won’t regret it!

We wish ours had a heater! That being said, it's all about your comfort level. If your kids don't mind jumping into a freezing cold lake on a mild summer day or if you don't want an extra month in the beginning of the summer and an extra month at the end, go without

Are we taking about like 12 foot circle and 24 deep? If so I had a solar cover that I used one year and it was always way to hot not even refreshing in the summer. I’ll sell you my solar cover for really cheap if you want it!

For sure! My in-laws don’t have a heater and I always think it’s cold. It warms up for like a week in mid summer IF. IF we get that strong heat wave. The nights still drop in temp so it doesn’t stay warm. I imagine you could also open your pool earlier and close later getting much more use out of it.

We are in the process of adding one now. The heater itself was about $1500 and then my hubby is running the gas line and electric to it.

my husband dug out and buried the gas line then we had a guy who works for Nicor come and make the connection. The heater itself was about $800 from Amazon. I probably would do it at install next time though.

We are having a pool installed in 2 weeks and we went back n forth on adding the heater now or later due to extra costs and finally decided to add it. Can’t wait for us and the kids to swim sooner and in warmer water! Go for it with the install!

Yes. even when the weather is warmer. The water is cold. Also, just a suggestion, get a light put in at installation. We do alot of evening swims and than water would be too dark without it.

Do it whenever but I’m telling you that pools in the Midwest do not get used very often if they don’t have a heater. Ask my neighbors on either side of me. If you’re spending the money already on a pool, buy a heater and be done.

Yes! My sister didn't get one and she reminds me and her husband (it was his choice not to get one) how much she wishes they would have gotten one at installation.
