Have you tried bunny ears instead of the typical going around the loop way?

My sons still tie with “bunny ears” cuz they just couldn’t get it with 1 loop. ‍♀️. I realized we were always rushing when we had to go somewhere, so I would just do it for them. I had to allow more time for them to do it themselves. They took it more seriously, then when we just sat at home & practiced. Good luck

There is a cool way that you stick the end of the shoe laces in the first hole and then just loop it twice. So easy

Try not to rush him, he will get it! Keep having him practice tieing even if he isn't wearing his shoes or have him try to tie your shows and when he tries praise him just like you did during potty training, maybe have some kind of awards or prizes for his accomplishment

Try multiple ways, use youtube to see options, do it one step at a time, cross, under and pull to make the first x, practice that until they can do it without a problem, then add the next small step, make a loop, or whatever the next step in the method you try.

Is he a leftie by chance? Took my leftie forever to learn and I never realized it was because the dominant hand in every video, song and the way I do it as well was all different.

‍♀️ Elem teacher here -Teach them with their shoe off sitting in front of them. Sit next to them and you tie one shoe and they copy your moves and tie their shoe. It’s much easier to learn when it’s off. Also, have them practice now when you have lots of time.

@polyhymnia Aiden had a hard time learning so one day I decided enough was enough and took away all the electronics until he learned. Took about 10 tries and he did it!

I found that teaching how to tie with the "bunny ears" was easier to teach than the other way.
