I painted mine a Sage Green color in my kitchen a few years ago.

@tumbrel523 has any of the paint chipped off? Did you spray it or use a brush?
by (1.3k points)
@abstractionist never chipped. Used a sponge brush and roller. It’s General Finishes paint. No sanding or priming needed. Good clean and a liquid deglosser and start to paint and finish with top coat. I did it 3 years ago.

@tumbrel523 thank you so much! Our Son just bought a house and they want to paint the cabinets but where a little nervous about chips.

@abstractionist I followed these directions. General finishes was great and like I said 3 years later no issues. I also just did fusion mineral paint on furniture in October, and so far no chips either.

@abstractionist Get Benjamin Moore Advanced it rolls right on and it’s self leveling so you can’t see the roll marks. They can make any color they offer in store. I painted mine a year ago and have absolutely no chips whatsoever.

Here is one we did a few years a go in Coventry Grey. Tupelo Lane Designs Inc. Looking through my pictures seems like most of the oak kitchens we have done are white. I have bunch of oak islands in differnt colors if that helps. But I'm going to keep digging to see if I can find more to share.

Here’s another angle without hardware. We chose Fairfield grey from Benjamin Moore Advanced line. I took off my cabinets, primed them, and rolled on 2 coats. I’m really happy I chose this color!

I'm afraid to paint my cabinets they are not the high end. Can I ask if you guys are doing it yourself and what products are you using?
by (2.7k points)
@millian in all my reading a high end primer should be a must and it seems that BM Advance is highly recommended for the type of paint in Satin. The experts hopefully can pass along some recommendations.

Check out General Finishes Gel Stain/Paint. Their colors are beautiful. I have not redone my cabinets because I prefer my oak as is, but here is a nice before/after with a gel stain.
