These are amazing! Also not toxic to people and animals. If you have pets be careful of what you use. I know peppermint is a big no with cats.

Like said above, peppermint is good to deter them, and borax/sugar water is good to place near where you believe their nest is to get rid of them.

Most people spray inside but I found spraying around the foundation outside kept mine from coming in. Plus I would vacuum or sweep before bed to eliminate any food on the floor.

I’ve tried EVERYTHING. And the Terro liquid bait traps are the ONLY thing that’s worked for us. Took about 2 weeks but we haven’t seen 1 ant since

@manageable75662 I’m glad you mentioned that it took 2 weeks, I would’ve been on to the next strategy if I didn’t seem immediate results lol I’ll have to give this a try, thanks!
by (1.1k points)
@manageable75662 where did you buy them? We just started getting carpenter ants two days ago ugh!
by (1.8k points)
I ordered them on amazon I ordered 2 boxes of them and I think we went through just about all of them

Terro liquid has worked the best!. spraying outside pushed the ones on the house side in. Spraying inside only killed what ya see. The blue round tins with bait and the terro. We have dead ants everywhere. Terro is essentially sugar and borax but so much easier

Add. after rain like this, our house would be a flood of ants. This morning I saw 1! This is the first year with terro. We get the bottle and not the bait containers. You put a bubble of terror on a little piece of cardboard (provided) and place it near your issue. They flood to it and that is unsettling, but there r fewer and fewer then just a bunch of dead ants.

Just dont be surprised if your dead disappear. This happened to us once, we set out the traps and there a bunch of dead ants by it. We were not able to clean it up right then, but when I went back about 45 mins. later, they were all gone. however never saw another ant in the house again lol

Hello, my husband and I own Mom and Pop Pest Control Services, LLC and I want you to be careful of the traps. They can bring in more ants. I know you are looking for home remedies, but if you want to use a company, please give us a call. 779-456-1855 or 779-456-1883. We would be happy to help, if these ideas do not work for you.

@edna894 do you spray for mosquitoes per chance?

We use peppermint oil. I take a cotton ball of it and rub it across any line of movement for the ants, then for a week I leave the cotton ball in a corner. It has worked every year.

Peppermint oil made into a spray works like a charm without any toxin exposure.
