Alright guys, My wife just ordered me 2 stick up cameras. Besides my Doorbell 2, these will be the first Ring cameras I have. Any tips on these ahead of time? Thanks!

Buy the wired ones if your locations allow for it.

I just checked, they were the battery ones. These can use the solar panel right?

Buy 2nd Gen Wired or 3rd Gen Elite.

Upgrade to ring protect plus. If you only have a doorbell then you likely just have protect basic, which will not work with additional devices.

@clown good call. Yeah I have ring protect now for $3 a month for my doorbell. I’ll definitely upgrade to the $10

Technically, if you only have 3 cameras you could do the $3/mo for each and it would be $1 cheaper, but it's worth the extra $1 to get the extended warranty for all the devices.

That is assuming your other 2 cameras are still within the warranty period. If they are out of warranty before you subscribe to protect plus, they will not be covered by the extended warranty.

@clown when my wife ordered them she got the Ring Assist Plus as well. The 3 year warranty

Also, if you would have signed up for protect plus prior to ordering the 2 new cameras, you could have got a 10% discount on them. I think that only applies at ring. com though and you can often find better discounts at retailers.

@clown my wife got them off QVC, one of their big deals

I like my Wired floodlight camera!

I bet, I wish my apt complex would let me install mine. They are "too scary and invasive" for all the yuppy senior citizens here. *shrugs* The lighting on them are pretty good?

Get some floodlights

@emeryemesis7693 I was going to, but they are all hardwired. I don’t have a fixture for them to replace with.

@xylia that sucks. They are awesome.

@emeryemesis7693 I was gonna get one, but then realized they aren’t battery powered or can not use a solar panel. I have a fixture for flood lights but it’s at the tip of my roof, and the camera would be useless at that height
