Has anyone used any of the refurbished Ring items? If so how do they compare to the new ones and what’s the pros and cons to them? Thanks for any input.

I have bought refurbished Ring devices off Amazon and Woot. Three times. All three times they failed to work. Never again.

I bought three RVD2's from Woot, and all three working fine.

@cottager I did it twice over a year sort. Both times they were DOA upon arrival. Hours of time with support only to get new ones shipped that worked or a refund. It’s a crap shoot IMO.

@rebak and you pay your $10/month and ring just sent you a new one right?

@desrosiers after weeks of support calls. Since it was an Amazon refurb they were reluctant to replace it. It took a lot of effort.

Where do you find the refurbished items?

I bought a refurbished one on amazon at a reduced price. Tried for hours installing it with customer service and it didn’t work. They ended up sending us a replacement brand new one for free.

I only have the refurbished doorbell and floodlights/camera. They've work perfectly from the beginning. I've never had to work with customer service. Can't compare to new because I don't have anything "new".

They are on sale as of yesterday on Ring's site & @ Home Depot.

I guess it's a matter of who does the refurbishing. Lots of folks sell refurbished items, but I only touch items sold and refurbished by the original manufacturer. I've never had a premature failure of a manufacturer refurbished item.

@hasson9897 mine came from Amazon and Woot. It didn’t specifically say who did the work. It’s ring and woot are owned by amazon.

I ended up buying a refurbished Ring Spotlight Cam today directly from Ring. $139 and has a one year warranty. Since I've got the security system and monitoring, that extends the warranty. Home Depot is selling it for the same price but I just felt a little more comfortable knowing it was coming directly out of Ring's stock. I guess the Home Depot stock is coming from Ring also but with the same price I stuck with Ring. Delivery from Ring is two days with Home Depot requiring a week.

If it is an Amazon sale then I might give it a try depending on the savings. eBay? No way

Amazon right now is more expensive on the refurbished Ring equipment. They wanted $179 for the same refurbished Spotlight Cam that Ring and Home Depot was selling for $139.

My Ring2 was refurbished and not sure what the difference would be from new. All original packaging that looked like it’d never been opened. Only difference I could find was price. It’s worked fine for a year now.
