Do you guys have Yard sign? I am just wondering if it’s worth it to spend 50$ for solar yard sign or just get 15$ simple one.

I don’t. In fact I have a non specific alarm sign so they don’t know what we have.

I use signs from an old alarm company so they don't know the specific system we have

They had a deal not too long. They threw one into your purchase! Ended up buying a stick up cam and got it free!

Had one, it died quickly. Ring replaced it but second one died as well! Now it's just a regular unlit sign.

I have one just because it came free. If you asked me to pay for it, I wouldn't. I think it's a personal preference, but $49 is almost the cost of an Indoor Cam, which I think is much more useful than a sign.

If you’re going to get a sign, get one that really grabs attention

@tube17 and I think alike. I also have generic stickers/sign. Let them guess what's installed. His statement about knowing what system is used and possible knowing a system weakness is also spot-on. I actually have the Ring Alarm System, with a full camera surveillance system (other brand) and additional motion sensors (other brand). With cameras visible outside, and stickers indicating an alarm system with cellular/battery back up, I would think the burglars/criminals would pick an easier target.

I have the Ring yard sign. The light worked for about 16 months, but no longer lights up. Not sure if the battery is replaceable. The colors have also faded. I received a new Ring sign recently as a free add on to an order, so I'll put the new one in my front yard and the old one in my back yard. Is it worth $50? Probably not. However, I certainly do recommend a yard sign with a warning about the security system/cameras. The signs can be more of a deterrent than the actual system itself.

Mine lasted about 2 years and finally died. they had me do some minimal troubleshooting, told me to throw it away and shipped out a new one for me under the Ring Protect Plus. the new sign is so much nicer.

@pentosan53231 I will say that Rings customer service has been good to me also. I haven’t opened my new sign yet. May check it out later this week.

@wsan4230, yes sir. I've needed them a handful of times in the past few years and it's always been an excellent experience each time for me as well. The new one is better than the last one, we shall see how it holds up to this FL sun.

Just got mine. Works great. I actually drilled two holes in the post and screwed it to my front deck. That way it’s way harder to steal and less chance of getting damaged.

I would rather put the money towards another device other than the sign.

I think those those signs translate into "Something worth stealing here"

Add "And a "security" system that sometimes works. "

The theory is that people would look for an easy house. If there's a security system they will pass your house for one without. Same idea with a dog. It's not the size; if they hear a dog barking they'll just move on.

@fairtrade I would rather they try my house and get caught than hit someone that doesnt have cameras.

1. It attracts alarm company sales people. 2. tech savy thieves to cut your cable input 3 doors down. 3. Homeless don’t care

@equities21015 I’ve had signs on my property for 20 years, way before I ever had a security system. 1. I have never had an alarm company knock on my door. 2. My cable is underground. 3. Five homes in my neighborhood have been broken into- none of them had signs or security systems. 4.  We have no homeless people in my neighborhood.

I had the older alarm company’s sign and had 5 different sales people come and try to sell me an alarm. I threw it away. no sales people. If I was a decent theif, I would learn about the alarm. If it’s cable, it comes out of the ground outside your your home or neighbors in both my neighborhoods that was my house and 4 doors down. Before I buy, I look at crime rate. I would have said he’ll to the no . However, this town has more than our share of homeless. It was a stupid deal our council made with the county. Basically all crime is tried in our new courts, which means every homeless person in the county gets dropped off here

I guess I don’t see a reason to advertise that a security system is in place.
The Ring Home Security Group is where you can always find questions, answers, advice, reviews & recommendations from other community members about smart home security with the Ring doorbell, alarm, and cameras.
