Anybody on here have the new Ring Chime? It looks like it supports Alexa and I’m curious if it does for one and if it does, is it only for announcements or does it work like a regular Alexa would? I am curious because I would like to put an Alexa device in my garage for doorbell and motion announcements along with other Alexa announcements I have setup in Routines. But in the case of a break in I do not want someone to be able to access my Alexa device in the garage by voice command since Alexa works with anyone’s voice. Or is a Flex a better option? Anyone with experience or ideas I’m all ears. Thanks all!

I don't own the new chime or chime pro, but I do have an echo dot in my garage. I mostly have it for playing music out there when working in the garage and/or cars, but I have not had any issues with someone trying to access it via voice. It's on the far wall away from the garage door on top of a cabinet, and they'd have to scream at the top of their lungs to get it to do anything they wanted it to do with the door closed.

Sounds like in your situation it wouldn’t be visible to others and so they wouldn’t know it’s there but it still works for you fine. I’d like to achieve similar. But I have announcements setup when devices are triggered and don’t want the intruder getting an Alexa announcement that the door is open. Then they would know I have it and try and do something with it to gain access to it disable my security. I know I’m being paranoid but just preparing for worst case and trying to be smart with my setup.

@dyestuff maybe disable those alerts for that device? I have not delved too far into playing with disabling for certain devices, but believe it can be done. Just simple things like I have it named something different than my other echo devices. My ecobee light switches all have the wake word Alexa, but my echo dot that I use to play my outdoor speakers is computer, while most echos are named echo. The garage is Amazon. simply changing the names should be enough, as most people trying to break in aren’t going through all the different wake words. Just an idea.
