Hi Guys and gals, watching this video taught me that I need to rework the standard contract I give to my clients. Does anybody know a good sample for an SEO contract?

This is a classic for our industry. Glad you discovered it. My contract evolved over time based on questions I was asked and situations which happened. I would say read lots of alternatives and lift pieces that fit your way of working, because no ones contract will directly suit you as is. Then write your own needs and clauses to protect both you and the client - it has to be fair to both parties, otherwise its unenforceable in law, even if they've signed it. It should be a reflection of how you do business and how you want the relationship to look and feel.

True story: After I first saw this video, I hired Gabe Levine (the attorney presenting alongside Mike). I still recommend Gabe's services. I also recommend Mike Monteiro's books, "You're My Favorite Client" and "Design is a Job. " Both apply to agency work in general, not just design. Stronger contracts do have an effect on closing new clients though; we've had to revise our sales process a bit so the client is emotionally more ready to see strong contracts. I try to present, not send, contracts, even when I think the prospect is ready to hire us.

Very good point @murphy6 Two prospective clients didn't sign up when I sent them an electronic contract even though it had the same stuff as on our website. We have since reverted to a no-frills proposal and link to the terms & conditions.
