Hey gang, I need some help please. Working on a WIX website for a small business. Going to be for myself, I'm transitioning from Social Media Manager to cooking school. I learn loads from all of you here but I'm not, in any capacity, an SEO expert. Here's the question. My website will have a menu section on Travel tips for the area the school is in. Within that there are subsections: Things to Do-Places to Stay-Places to Eat-Canal Boat tips. From an SEO point of view does it matter that these are not Menu pages in their own right? Any SEO issues I need to address for this or is that just too large a question? Also, there was that long discussion about FAQs. I gather it was significant but you lot lost me. I do have an FAQ page. Should I have an FAQ section on every page? Apologies if this is all super basic. WIX offers SEO experts but I thought I'd try here first because I have been lurking and trust what is said. Thanks

Don't use wix. Go for WordPress

Loving Wix, after being a WordPress fan for years. Why you saying this?

@depressor i don't like wix. In the end if you can work with wp it is much better

Wix doesn't have much room that you can "grow into" later when your site may become larger or you may need extra features beyond basics. I'd avoid Wix whenever possible.

@vasodilator @darien Hu Fair comments both, but I find WP so complicated to set up. You guys are pros and I am not so it may be easier for you? Also, because I'm a small biz I think Wix will be enough for my needs. No ecommerce for starters. When I'm ready to go beyond basics I'll have enough money (I hope) to hire a pro instead of doing it myself. at which point Wix v WP wont be an issue! But seriously, I had such a bias for WP for years that I never touched Wix. Because the current business owners used Wix, I thought it would be easier if my new site stayed there hence my choice--it's been eye opening.

WP's learning curve is maximum two weeks worth of workday evenings - even an 50+ year accountant I consulted from 0 picked it up faster :). Wix's learning curve is a few days but it's a dead end. WP also has different builders nowadays, drag and drop, like in Wix I assume. Maybe you had tried it years ago when it was more tricky. Once you understand WP you can also manage an ecommerce site on it but on Wix. nope.

What is more important? If it is ranking, do not take the easy way out! If it is ranking, incorporate the SEO from the beginning. People always wonder why their properties do not rank. Maybe because they are looking at easy vs. best practices. If you are only concerned about having a brochure that you share with people, do easy. If you have longer term goals, do what is needed.

Create the site you would want to use. Don't fuss over what the correct SEO strategy would be. If you don't like the way the search engines make your site then change something.
