Is it getting harder or easier to provide real value to small business owners?

I also think SEO isn't the best bang for buck for small business. Unless the owner understand the game plan, and doesn't just say yes when you tell them 67 times SEO isn't overnight success (than say wtf is taking so long) I think google ads can offer better ROI. Small businesses only care about one thing. How quickly (normally weeks) can I get ROI.

You have to be in-sync with clients. Sometimes they NEED the instant results offered by PPC, not just for ROI but for understanding prospect triggers.

Small businesses are the easiest for SEOs to help. Its much easier to rank a small lawncare service than it is to rank a big law firm.
