Question

I just tried to sign up for Cloudways to switch my hosting and got an email stating they want me to send them my Gov ID and FB Url. I've never heard of such. Has this happened to anyone else?

Didn't ask for anything of the sort when I signed up. Been using them for almost a year

It’s been 3 years but I don’t recall them asking for anything like this. Are you sure you signed up in the right site and not a phishing site?

@arterio yes they sent me an email from cloudways and I double check in chat on their website they said it's for security to make sure I'm not a bot. Very strange for a hosting company. I told them nope I wont be sending my ID

Like @arterio I used them a couple years ago, but didn't need to provide any of that info.

Did you sign up using your Gmail account or LinkedIn account?

I heard you can avoid that step if you sign up using some of those options.

@ovotestis I'm in Cali I just checked my email they emailed me my welcome email. I did not send them my Driver's license just my FB url . i refused to give them that .
