I'm very disappointed, My website was affected by May 2020 Core Algorithm Update, the organic traffic was down from 26k to 2k / day. Is there anything should I do or just wait? or.?

Not sure bout the others but I don't touch it for a week or two before taking actions.

But that's a big drop you know, you might want to pull out your checklist already to give you an idea where it might gone wrong.

by (700 points)
@teliospore lost about 100 visitors a day. Let wait and see
by (240 points)

What's the niche?
by (240 points)
@battleax869 I’m in Tech as well. Lost 60%

That’s a huge loss. I agree with the posters above. Give it at least a week to recover. If it dropped that much in 1 day, it can heavily fluctuate over the course of a week also.

Move on. Copy all the data, move to a new domain.

by (680 points)
Permanent 301. Best with expired domain.

Huge drop. Were you involved in any kind of link building? Also, without more data about the site and the niche, it will be hard for anyone to give you some good advice.

Don't wait to buy gold, buy gold and wait.

So, You think that I need to buy links when the update is rolling?

100% wait, at least a week. If it's not recovering after a week, there should be enough data SEO community wide to give clues about recovery.

Yes. No. Maybe so. Lol. Love it. PPC makes sense. I wonder how CTR for google ads has changed over the past decade.

Just wondering, how many of you guys that lost huge organic traffic are using Yoast Seo?
by (830 points)
@magneto5652 I'm using yoast, i lost around 60% of my traffic, but what does yoast has to do with it?
by (480 points)
There are many complaints lately about it. I have been using it on one website and lost quite some traffic while I didn't on others that had another Seo plugin. Not sure if this is the problem though. Check the review comments:

I've yoast on 3 domains, 1 effected and other 2 not effected so it has nothing to do with yoast

@lissettelissi826 Noor Same version on all?

Did you notice how Pinterest gained a huge boost? On my niche they got over 4 spots with multiple domains (. com, . de, , cl, . it, . br, . es) BTW, my niche is about prayers in Brazil, so this doesn't make any sense. Google literally wiped all sites but Pintrest and Youtube.

Is it by Google update or Coronavirus

Google Core Update.

I’m hearing from a number of folks I know who saw a big drop, but who have not done any linkbuilding. Wondering if changes are related to on page factors, or either something niche related, like YMYL.

I lost around 300 ranking on the 10th of last month, got it back a few days ago. Wait it out.
by (230 points)
@arnone 100% recovery? Or partial
by (1.2k points)
@bandeen in the end full and a little more spots gained
by (230 points)
@arnone nice. So it took a little over a month to bounce back
by (1.2k points)
@bandeen I'll send you a pic of the drop then the pickup
