I use a dimmer plug on a cheap fan. Everyone says it will burn up the fan but I've had no issues and the fan was cheap anyway.

I had a cheap dimmer that I picked up and then a cheap fan so all in all if it all fried I wasn't out a lot of money. That being said I've had no issues. Of course i have no issues with space heaters on my wemos either :)
