Does anyone have experience with setting up automation in an RV? I'm trying to help my parents set up some temperature sensors and possibly a camera that are non-subscription but don't rely entirely on wifi. Any suggestions?

I had the furnace kick on when I got within 50 meters of my trailer with a Vera and Zwave Tstat. Cameras were on a the 12 volt LAN with an Android NVR. All my devices functioned fine on the LAN even with the 4g modem off.

Regular hard wired cameras could be viewed on a tv in the rv. The systems only need WiFi to remotely watch.

When I was 'off grid' I put a solar panel, car battery and a DSL modem by the telephone pole and ran Cat5 200 yards to my 12-volt router in the trailer.

I converted my 19 volt PC monitor power supplies to 12 volt. All A/V controls were handled by a URC MX780 Etc Etc Etc
