So I have a nanobeam connecting my shop and house for internet. I can use just one smartthings hub so long as everything can get a wifi signal to an access point correct? Or what limitations would I have ? Thanks

Smartthings can minimally use some Wifi but is primarily designed to do Zwave or Zigbee. Both of these are wireless protocols like wifi bit do not work specifically on wifi. Both can build mesh networks based on their own devices (assuming they are wired devices)

@flint93 that makes sense. So it can work but with limitations. Some of the most common sensors will not be able to signal back to the hub.
