I have my whole home wired with ceiling speakers and manual volume controls in each room. Is there some kind of Z-wave or other automated solution that anybody is using for this instead?

I don't think zwave is what you're looking for in this case. But a proper multi-room audio setup. I think there are amps that support this.

What speakers did you use out of curiosity?

I have pretty basic round ceiling speakers. I have upstairs neighbors so didn't go with anything too substantial as it just provides background noise and music at parties. Each room has an analog dial to turn music up and down.

@medin cool, thanks. Starting to think about that on this end too. Right now we just have Alexa devices all over but the sound quality isn’t mind blowing

@overmantel we did it when we gutted our 1913 flat and renovated the whole thing. Did the speakers, volume control, media closet and hardwired Ethernet to office, TV outlets, etc.

How many zones of audio? Sonos is a popular option for replacing your system.

@debroahdebs978 we have speakers already installed in 9 rooms hooked to our Onkyo receiver and the family room has surround installed in another zone
